Shoes for stylish vegans
There’s always been a bit of a stigma attached to cruelty-free, vegan shoes. Many of us want to be ethical, but why do most people seem to assume ethical means ’boring’? There are very few brands that make nice veggie shoes, but they can be found - look to strict vegan Alicia Silverstone for details. UK company Beyond Skin make cruelty-free footwear to order, and instead of just using plastic-like leather substitutes, they also use satin, cotton and glitter fabrics and follow current trends. Shown are ‘Hannah’ boots (£179). They don’t come cheap, but it’s better than buying budget shoes that aren’t made of leather but were probably made in a sweatshop.
