Oscar Gossip, Part 3

Oscar4 Elton John's Oscar Party, the place for proper Oscar gossip. Forget the uber celebs strutting down the red carpet in dresses so long you can't see their shoes. Here is where you'll find the Hollywood brats, teen stars, Desperate Housewives and Darius-dating actresses with shoes you can see. I never thought I'd ever say this on Shoewawa, but Christina Aguilera, we love you (and your gorgeous silver strappies)! It's just a shame Natalie Cole didn't check with Christina first, or this wardobe mishap wouldn't have happened. At the risk of flogging a large dead horse, 'to copy this strappy shoe look' (deja vu, anyone?) these 'Nadeen' shoes from Claudia Ciuti ($253) are just the ticket. And just for fun, I picked the gold ones.

And just for fun, here's a picture of Paris Hilton looking a teensy bit chubby.

Oscar Gossip, part 2

--- due to the lack of visible shoes at the Academy Awards, we interrupt our usual shoe-shaped schedule for a fashion update (read: rant) from our editor ---

I always disagree with the E! Fashion Police. Every year, every award ceremony, they pick out all my favourite outfits and trash them completely. I've taken that to mean one of two things...

a) I have no style or
b) they have no style.

Of course, there is always hidden option...

c) Variety is the spice of life (and Brits never like the showy stuff Americans go for)

Whichever way, I was shocked to see them berating the choices of Cate Blanchett and Drew Barrymore this year (though I have to agree on Gisele 'I wore my bedlinen' Bundchen). And is it just me, or did Charlize Theron look a bit like she belonged on top of a toilet roll? As for Gwyneth, we still await the day she finds an Oscar dress that actually fits her on the chest.

Oscar Gossip, Part 1

There’ll be loads of Oscars stuff here and on The Bag Lady over the next couple of days (once we’ve caught up on the sleep we missed by staying up all night shoe-spying!) but there was one pair of shoes we had to give a mention right now. Good old Star Jones, E! television’s Red Carpet reporter, wore a Richard Tyler dress with…Payless shoes?! The strappy gold numbers were from her own 'Starlet by Star' collection, and we love her for proving you don’t have to wear designer to a big event to look gorgeous!

ps. If you still don't know who won last night, the list is here. The big shock of the night was 'Million Dollar Baby' scooping the best picture gong when everyone thought 'The Aviator' was a shoe-in.

Oscar Shoe Prediction #3

Oscar3 If Jennifer Lopez manages to escape her husband (or should that be 'minder') come Oscar night - and if she's not at home, hiding away from the press, who'll no doubt hassle her to clear up those pregnancy rumours - we reckon she'll hit the red carpet in shoes by one of her fave designers, Guiseppe Zanotti (unless she's forced to wear her new line of 'JLo' shoes). It's fair to say the queen of bling will go for sparkly, metallic and jewelled - something like these $549 strappies, perhaps?

eBay Watch #15

In honour of the Academy Awards on Sunday evening (or the middle of the night here in snowy Blighty) this week’s eBay watch is full of glam evening shoes covered in sparkle, glitz and over-the-top decoration. That and the odd pair of designer bargains…

Gucciebay Gucci bamboo heel black satin shoe (UK 5)
Red satin D’Orsay with diamante (various sizes)
Manolo Blahnik ‘Butterflo’ Fedora Rose D’Orsay (UK 6.5)
Pink diamante butterfly stilettos (UK 5)
Alexander McQueen black cutout courts (UK 4)

Happy Bidding!

Oscar Shoe Prediction #2

Oscar2 We'd love to see those celebrities edging away from the norm and not feeling like they have to wear Jimmy Choo or Manolo Blahnik for Oscar night. These stunning but classic 'Marianna' satin pumps by Rupert Sanderson (£310) would be beautiful and original, and we'd love to see them on glamourous ladies like Catherine Zeta-Jones or Cate Blanchett. They're real old-school Hollywood; we mean the actresses and the shoes!

Customised Nikes

Pinklady
There's something strangely appealing about Nikes with the Powerpuff Girls emblazoned on their side. This may seem odd after my Hello Kitty outburst (sorry Katie, I'm a hypocrite) but I've always been a PPG fan (possibly because I look and act like Blossom).  The customised creations come from the Pink Lady Boutique, where you can get Air Force Ones, High-Tops or Timberlands hand-decorated with anything your heart desires. We've seen (and worn) their customised jeans, and if they're anything to go by, these shoes are going to kick some serious arse.
