We're currently on the hunt for the perfect pair of affordable, ethnic-inspired Summer sandals to go with all those boho tiered skirts and tunics that are currently on the high street. This $99.95 'Iconn' sandal
, from Steve Madden's more pricey and sophisticated 'Steven' range is a good choice if you can't bear to go for flats. The turquoise detail is a great touch, and much nicer than the red and white version.
We've said it before, and we'll say it again. Jelly is not a suitable thing to make shoes from, even for the Summer (think of the sweat!). But still Melissa USA rub salt into the wound with their plastic shoe hell. This season they've teamed up with some Brazillian designers to come up with new 'fashion' jelly shoes, the Campana Brothers 'Campana' (right), and 'Top', a jelly wedge by Alexandre Herchcovitch that we can't even bear to put up here. Please, just say no.
Another new column for Shoewawa - the Price Watch. What's the deal with this one? We take a current trend and search out as many versions of it as we can in an attempt to find the cheapest or best value pair on the market. We're starting off with the crotchet / woven ballet flat (we even found a pair for less than $10).

A friend of Shoewawa is set to be a bridesmaid this Summer and is currently fighting a losing battle trying and pursuade the bride that her attendants should wear gold ballet flats (which no doubt will come in handy after the big day a lot more than square heeled satin pointed-toe courts). It's not working too well, but it did get us thinking about bridal shoes. If you've been talked into being a bridesmaid this Spring / Summer and your bride is being a little more flexible, try and talk her into letting her bridesmaids pick their own shoes. That way you have an excuse to buy these Betsey Johnson 'Mali' heels
. The pink satin and rosebud design make them romantic enough for the big day, but the gold heels take away that wedding-shoe frumpiness so you can wear them all Summer afterwards.
We all love our gorgeous strappies, but after four hours of dancing on a big night out, even I find myself wishing I wore more practical shoes. Most savvy shoe girls now pack a pair of flip-flops in their bag to change into, but the problem is they then take up valuable lipgloss space. If only there were a pair of flip-flops dressy enough to wear all night, eh? Come on down, Miss Sixty's 'Lady B' sandal. Dressy enough for night, comfy enough for day. £55 well spent.
It's the day all high street shoe fans dreams of. The Faith Mis-Season sale is now on, meaning you can snap up Summer shoes and catwalk copies at even more affordable prices than usual. You'll be joining the queue behind me the moment they slash the price of these £55 'Latewedge' wedges from the Solo range.
On the left is a nice casual, practical shoe that'll look great with...oh, ok, I give up. It's another over-the-top sparkly sandal that costs more than most people's rent, the Guiseppe Zanotti Sandal with dangling beads At $550 we'll leave it to Zanotti fan La Lopez to actually buy them (well, she probably gets them free, but you get where I'm coming from). Sit back, ogle, then buy the ones on the right, the 'Debut' by Faith for £55, instead.
