You may have noticed some new categories cropping up on Shoewawa over the last couple of days. We thought it only fair with it being the trend of the season that the wedge should get its own section, so here's our very first 'wedges' post. If you're still finding the clumpy shoe trend hard to take this butterfly sandal from Prada ($485) might be a good jumping off point - whacking a butterfly on a wedge definitely helps pursuade me!
The Sun is out for the first time in ages, and to celebrate, this week's eBay watch concentrates on Summer shoes. It's time to get those old reliable flip-flops out of storage, or even better...bid on some new ones!
Authentic Black Hibiscus Havaianas (EU 39/40)
Gold sandals worn once in photoshoot (UK 8)
Manolo Blahnik black toe-posts (EU 41.5)
Jimmy Choo Crystal Sandals (UK 3)
Brand New 'Arizona' Birkenstocks (UK 5)
I cannot take credit for finding this monstrosity of ugly shoe-ness. It comes courtesy of Fabulous Girl, who put it perfectly by saying this is just 'a wedge too far'. If it wasn't enough that the wedge / platform combo are so high you run the risk of doing a Naomi and falling flat on your face, what is going on with all that cork? Still, I suppose it could be worse. They could have used perspex.

Look at this shoe. It's called 'Grace', and it also comes in pale pink. It's made from a fantastic brocade fabric, with diamante studded buckles and a heel that would make even the chunkiest calves look slim. So who's the designer? Gina, perhaps? Good old Manolo? Surely with detail like that it's got to be worth a couple of hundred at least?
Actually, it's $55.95 from Bakers Footwear!
Have you ever been walking along in your flip-flops and suddenly come sliding out of one shoe as someone 'accidentally' treads on the back of it behind you? (Maybe that's just my friends?) Or been sat down dangling it off your foot only for it to fall off completely, meaning you've got to move to pick it up? The solution comes in Summer shoes like these ones, which combine flip-flop comfort with sandal practicality. The 'Lime' sandals from Barratts are only £20, and they're gold. And you know how much Shoewawa loves gold!
Last year Miu Miu paid 'homage' to a Terry de Havilland shoe. The result was a whole new cult of de Havilland devotees willing to shell out hundreds for a pair of his shoes (they sell for around £800 on eBay). The designer was suddenly back in the spotlight, and along with his new high-end brand, has launched his diffusion line, De Havz, available at Office. As you'd expect from the 70s shoe king, the shoes are big, bad, platform heeled and not for the faint hearted. This Spikey Vamp wedge is £84.99 in lilac or black suede.
