Carlos Santana - Shoe Designer?

Carlos
So, does Carlos Santana really give up valuable guitar time to design shoes, or does he just do a JLo (or a Gwen, P. Diddy or Kimora-Lee, for that matter) and lend his name to a range that's actually designed by someone else? Well, ponder this. On your left you have the Carlos by Carlos Santana 'Santa Fe' sandal at $78.85. On your right, the Solo by Faith 'Juliana' Sandal for £35. You can bet somewhere in the middle you have a cheap manufacturer who allows people to re-label their blank merchandise. Still, at £35, who's complaining?

It didn't take too much poking around to discover that the "Carlos" brand is produced by the Brown Shoe Company in the United States. They also make Naturalizer, Life Stride, Buster Brown (for kids), and are the current licensees for Bass and Dr. Scholls. I'd assume that Faith is licensing from Brown Shoe.

Nearly all the shoes on the UK high street are designed by one company. And most are copies of some higher end designer.
