Duo's New Autumn Essential

FlatduoMy best friend and I don't look like this when we go to the cinema. For one thing, you'd never catch me watching a scary movie. For another, my friend would never tuck her jeans into her boots. I would, however, be quite happy with a pair of burgundy suede flat boots like these for Autumn. The good news is that these come from Duo - a brand who make boots in different calf widths for a properly snug fit and no sagging or stretching. The 'navarra' boot is £150 and is available in four colours, eight sizes and ten calf widths. So I'll have none of you telling me they don't make them in your size...

Hot Pink Hollywoulds

Hwvelvet Still not bought your velvet shoes for Autumn? They might not be the most practical (velvet + rain = a soggy mess) but they do look beautiful for evening. If you're one of those colour-shy women who wouldn't dare wear a bright colour in normal circumstances, maybe these hot pink kitten heels from Hollywould ($425) will pursuade you to give it a go. Keep the rest of the outfit simple and a splash of colour on your feet will be easier to stomach than you think. And how beautiful are these?

Purple Reign

PurplejmTwo Autumn trends - tassels and purple - in one designer shoe for less than £100. Now that is what I call a good deal. Join the queue fast if you want to snap these babies up. The suede cutout shoes are from Julien MacDonald's wallet-friendly 'Star' diffusion line for Debenhams (God, I love Designers at Debenhams) and cost just £60 a pair in purple or black. It'd be rude not to buy them...

Ugly Shoe Of The Week

Uglymiumiu_1My apologies to those of you who'll have trouble sleeping tonight after seeing Miu Miu's wool floral embroidered clogs (£210). There are no words. Miuccia, Miuccia, Miuccia! What happened? This is why you have to be very careful when you choose someone to chair the footwear division of your diffusion line. Choose incorrectly, and this happens. The lovechild of a clog and an Ugg.

Classic Louboutins

LbtclassThinking of investing in your first pair of designer shoes? Then go for something classic, timeless and elegant. If you're splashing out hundreds on a pair of shoes for the first time, it's best to start simple, and choose a pair of shoes that you'll actually wear. These chic Christian Louboutin 3" stilettoes are perfect. Black leather with that trademark red sole, they'll soon become wardrobe staples. Best of all, they're less than $300 - an absolute bargain for designer heels. Get them at Bluefly (sizes are limited) for $282.

Take Flight

OngbootsI only know one man who doesn't like women in high-heeled, slimline knee-high boots. They scream sex appeal, they hold all the flab in (provided they fit - muffin top calves aren't attractive, ladies) and they go with everything. Well, just about. Beatrix Ong has updated her 'messenger' suede boot with some metallic wing-like detailing ($633), making your outfit choice a little more difficult. Go for something simple, streamlined and monochrome - a black skirt topped off with a slouchy black and white striped jumper will give you the perfect 60s Edie Sedgwick look, like you've just stepped off the catwalk at Dior.

Yay or Nay Wednesday!

Yaynay1I promised a new weekly column, and here it is! Mid-week boredom is no more, thanks to 'Yay or Nay Wednesday'. Each Wednesday I'll post a love-it-or-hate-it type shoe, and all you have to do is comment below with a 'yay' or 'nay' vote (and a reason if you wish). It's not only a great way to compare your style with other readers, but a way for me to study Shoewawa readers' tastes so I can pick better shoes in the future. We'll start off with Anthropologie's 'Plum Pudding' heeled loafers ($268). Ignoring the hefty price - yay or nay? Tell your friends!
