Hi, I am looking for a stunning pair of black Mary Janes. These will be my first pair of heels so they need to be comfortable, and a decent price as I am a student - Mary Jane

These Mary Jane courts from Schuh definitely fit the bill. They only have a kitten heel, rather than being stiletto, but the pointed toe means the shoes still have a grown-up look. Best of all, they're only £39.99, but are made of leather so they'll give better than cheap synthetic shoes. If you'd rather go for something less pointy, Schuh do a similar style in a chunkier heel with a round toe for the same price.

Thes Marks and Spencers ones are much cuter - and more like proper Mary Janes rather than courts like the shoes shown. They also look that bit more expensive, despite being only £29.50
