Third in our Autumn / Winter trend guide is the brocade shoe, which is going to be big news thanks to the catwalk's obsession with all things Victorian. You would be forgiven for thinking that a fussy printed shoe would be virtually unwearable and over the top, and you'd probably be right, but provided you stick to block colours where your clothes are concerned, you can look amazing in richly patterned brocade shoes. Those of you with cash to burn should go for Manolo Blahnik's amazing regal-looking D'Orsays (right) which cost a scary $765. If your budget is slightly tighter than that, there'll be plenty of alternatives on the high street. Topshop's funky wedge sandal (£50, left) will look great with opaque brown tights and one of this season's pencil skirts. Very 40s, very chic!
