Yay or Nay Wednesday!

Yaynay1I promised a new weekly column, and here it is! Mid-week boredom is no more, thanks to 'Yay or Nay Wednesday'. Each Wednesday I'll post a love-it-or-hate-it type shoe, and all you have to do is comment below with a 'yay' or 'nay' vote (and a reason if you wish). It's not only a great way to compare your style with other readers, but a way for me to study Shoewawa readers' tastes so I can pick better shoes in the future. We'll start off with Anthropologie's 'Plum Pudding' heeled loafers ($268). Ignoring the hefty price - yay or nay? Tell your friends!

Definitely Yay!

Posted by: angel | September 14, 2005 2:25 PM

I say nay, the green isn't a nice green with the red tone of the shoes.

I do however love the basic shoe on it's own.

Posted by: Cassie | September 14, 2005 2:27 PM

These shoes are definitely Nay!
Typewriter receptionist eat your heart out!

Posted by: Chloe | September 14, 2005 2:29 PM

Hell to the Nay! Those are fug!

Posted by: Meir | September 14, 2005 2:48 PM

i say yay :) but i wish it was pink!

Posted by: Anna | September 14, 2005 2:51 PM

Absolutely NAY.
If your feet are anything bigger than a size 3, you'll look like you're wearing coal barges. This style of shoe is best worn with mid-calf length pleated crimplene skirt and taupe shirt with embroidered shoulder pads.
You did ask !

Posted by: Sista Lou | September 14, 2005 2:52 PM

No way!. This looks like a granny type of shoe or 1940's teacher. Please nooooooo.

Posted by: Linda | September 14, 2005 2:55 PM

Nay. Nay. Nay.

Posted by: MCW | September 14, 2005 3:07 PM

Nay, nay, a hundred times nay! Chunky and clunky all the way around -- matronly heels, uninspired and unflattering form, questionable pairing of colour and the detailing is both moccasin-inspired and completely blah.

Posted by: Alice | September 14, 2005 3:41 PM

What's up with you all, I think its lovely!
A yay from me. The green could be a bit brighter though.

Posted by: Johanna | September 14, 2005 3:46 PM

Posted by: Johanna | September 14, 2005 3:51 PM

Nay! Too clunky!

Posted by: jen | September 14, 2005 4:00 PM

YAY! absolutely quaint!

Posted by: HJ | September 14, 2005 4:02 PM

What an ugly combination of colors! Yuck! Definite Nay!

Posted by: Catherine | September 14, 2005 4:10 PM

Although wavering, I say Nay, they are rather clunky and grandma-like, but not in a cute way. I do like the colours though.

Posted by: Arlene | September 14, 2005 4:27 PM

Yay for the new column, but nay on the shoes... There's something I like about them, but I can't quite figure out what that is. It's not the colors, the silhouette, or the fact that they're heeled loafers, which I've never once liked except now when I find myself craving a nice shiny pair of them. What is it? Oh, I see, what I like is the pinking-shear detail. Sorry, anthropologie, that's not enough.

Posted by: Mary | September 14, 2005 4:28 PM

Nay!!!
OMG I think these are so ugly.. The only way these would be cute would be if you were a tiny person with tiny feet.

Posted by: Yvette | September 14, 2005 4:40 PM

Holy crap nay! The only way these shoes could be any uglier is if the feet in them were attached to horribly swollen aged ankles followed by varicose vain road map stylie stockinged calves, yuk yuk yuk

Posted by: RetailJunkie | September 14, 2005 4:50 PM

Nay! Although possibly useful as a distraction from an even uglier matching outfit...

Posted by: Artchicken | September 14, 2005 5:11 PM

As price is disregarded-- yay. Maybe in different colors though-- colors + style = North Pole schoolmarm.

Posted by: Audrey | September 14, 2005 5:35 PM

Yay under trousers :)

Posted by: Sade | September 14, 2005 6:14 PM

Yay! What's wrong with them? I like them.

Posted by: MJ | September 14, 2005 6:32 PM

yay - they'd be perfect with the slutty-librarian spinster look I rock at work!

Posted by: Kristina | September 14, 2005 6:48 PM

Absolutely NAY!!!

Posted by: merci | September 14, 2005 7:14 PM

Absolutely NAY!!!

Posted by: merci | September 14, 2005 7:15 PM

Yay, though I think a tan color for the accents would be better than the light olive, with the plum. I'd actually love to see them in a deep olive with brown accents.

Posted by: oliviacw | September 14, 2005 7:18 PM

Yay; the green works because of how subtle it is. The shoes themselves would go great with some nice slacks or a flaring skirt.

Posted by: Bravado | September 14, 2005 8:01 PM

Nay... I personally like more elegant/delicate shoes.

Posted by: Andreea | September 14, 2005 8:42 PM

definately NAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: randi | September 14, 2005 10:42 PM

Absolutely NAY!

Posted by: Polly | September 14, 2005 10:50 PM

NAY!

Posted by: aja | September 14, 2005 11:45 PM

NAY. They look like Grandma Christmas's kumpfs :P

Well, maybe a titch bit saucier than that - but only cos the heel is high.

Posted by: mamu | September 15, 2005 12:51 AM

Nay! Aweful... absolutely aweful...

Posted by: Roba | September 15, 2005 1:13 AM

NAY, NAY, NAY.

Posted by: Ashley | September 15, 2005 1:30 AM

Nay. yech!

Posted by: Elise | September 15, 2005 2:55 AM

Definite yay!

Posted by: regon | September 15, 2005 3:16 AM

Nay! I kind of like the colors, but the shape of the shoe just turns me off. Loafers can be a little clunky, and this pair doesn't have anything to sex it up at all. Either raise the heel or have toe cleavage (my mantra)

Posted by: Kori | September 15, 2005 4:56 AM

Ick... Nay.

Posted by: Katrina | September 15, 2005 5:01 AM

nay, nay, oh my god, NAY... based on all the yay's, i'd like to know who reads this site!!! i thought you were based in the UK, but judging from the shoes you show on your website I am no longer sure you're western european..... I have to find an italian shoe blog asap!!!!

Posted by: confused | September 15, 2005 6:55 AM

sorry, i meant to say "the shoes you show on your blog LATELY"

Posted by: confused | September 15, 2005 7:04 AM

Nay, it's old lady meets pocahontas
don't see with what it could look good

Posted by: jackie | September 15, 2005 9:43 AM

Nay, nay, nay!!!

Posted by: Clem | September 15, 2005 10:23 AM

Nay, Nay, And Nay!!!soooooo ugly...

Posted by: sasa | September 15, 2005 11:43 AM

Originally thought Nay, but a closer look changes my vote to Yay, because I would so wear them.

Posted by: Xara | September 15, 2005 1:12 PM

Nay! How do they even come up with half of the stuff that they do?

Posted by: Max | September 15, 2005 2:09 PM

Nay - not quite a tender for Ugly Shoe of the Week but nearly!!!!1

Posted by: Lynn | September 15, 2005 2:11 PM

Nay Nay Nay way to a clompy tammy style shoe. Looks like they tried to copy a trend but went horribly wrong!

Posted by: elle | September 15, 2005 4:47 PM

Nay, only because I think they look unproportionate. The High Heel just doesn't suit the clunky rounded toe. They look like they are TRYING too hard to be designer YAY for someone like Paris Hilton who has NO fashion sense to wear them to make them popular... I dunno just NAY!

Posted by: Brianna | September 15, 2005 6:00 PM

Nay - they are gross! The boxy toe and the chunky heel...ew.

Posted by: circus | September 15, 2005 6:33 PM

Yay!!!

...If I were in the Von Trapp Family Singers.

Posted by: Heather | September 16, 2005 2:36 AM

Nay.

Posted by: Telly | September 16, 2005 2:38 AM

Nay, they don't look good at all.

Posted by: Wing | September 17, 2005 10:55 PM

It's so borderline, coz I love the red and I think the angle makes them look clunkier than they actually are... and they would make a nice addition to my already very-red shoe collection for my inevitable ascent in the Library world... so I'm bucking the trend, and going with Yay.

Posted by: Nomes | September 18, 2005 9:45 AM

nay but I think they would be perfect for the little old lady in poltergeist, may she rest in peace
