What the hell is a Kiltie?

Kiltie
Apparently, the fashion-speak term for the little fringed things on these shoes is a 'kiltie'. For those who don't know, shoes with kilties are well-and-truly back in style. My mother was very happy to hear this and is now sporting her old faithful Marks & Spencer pair again. If you too fancy dressing like mommy Shoewawa (she taught me all I know, after all), there's a pair of kiltie pumps to suit all budgets. Go designer with Bottega Veneta's version (left) for $690, or hit the high street for Faith's 'Clanter' (right) in various colours for £50.

Clarks had a very similar pair, for £9.99 in the sale.

Am I the only one that thinks the faith version is nicer?

  • Is it called Kiltie for men's shoes too? because my dad always wears those on his shoes.

  • I am so glad to know it has a name! Now I can stop calling them "shoes with those fringe-y things" And I just got a pair at Aerosoles which are actually quite cute (on, not so much in the picture) and are SO comfortable!
