Velvet T-bars: Chic vs Cheap

Bottega Veneta's embroidered heel velvet T-bars are one of the shoes of the season, so it's no surprise that a lot of sizes are sold out at Net-a-Porter, despite the hefty £400 price tag. So what's a girl to do if she can't stretch to that so close to Christmas? How about River Island's velvet T-bars for a far more wallet-friendly £39.99. They're not exactly the same, but with a similar shape and fabric, they nod toward all the same trends for a lot less cash.

New from Miu Miu

The cruise collections are hitting the stores quick and fast now, and as you saw from the sparkly flats from a few days ago, I'm getting quite excited about what Miu Miu has to offer. These denim peep toe wedges ($385) caught my eye too. While they're not going to float everyone's boat (cruise, boat...see what I did there?) they at least live up to the young and quirky nature of Prada's baby sister brand, and they're one of the few styles that could actually be worn this time of year by people who're not spending their Christmas in the Caribbean.

Knitted Ugg Style Boots

Can you tell me where to get Sienna and Jordans knitted/crochet ugg style boots? Sienna had white ones and Jordan I saw in an orange pair? Thanks! - Harriet
I'd first like to go on record as saying I think these should be in the Ugly Shoes section of the site, but I've been asked about them a few times now, so perhaps I'm missing something. With a bit of help from Sienna fans we've come to the conclusion that the knitted boots are LIVS (from $99.99) Sienna's being the oatmeal colour, and Jordan's the orange. There are loads of stockists around, but Shoes.com are one of the few to offer international shipping.

Children in Need eBay Watch

People in the UK will know that it's Children In Need day, where folks at the BBC (and all their pals) do stupid things in the name of charity. As part of the fundraising effort, folks are being asked to sell stuff on eBay as part of the The Great Big Bid, donating a portion (or all) of the proceeds to the cause. Carvela Boots

A while ago we bought you the news that the Kurt Geiger website was launching an e-commerce section. Well, the site is now in full swing, and not only can you get Kurt Geiger shoes, but also a range of well-chosen designs from the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Gina and Geiger spin-offs KG and Carvela. Top of our list are these Victorian inspired knee-high boots, which are toughened up with buckle and brogue detailing and a decent, thick sole for the bad Winter weather. They're £119 from Carvela.

Bargain boots a la Marc Jacobs

How's this for a bargain. The Marc Jacobs strapped-up ankle boot has been a massive seller this season, and Topshop's alternative sold out just as quickly. But how about a similar pair for less than £30? These ones are from our favourite secret haunt for designer-inspired finds, Additions Direct. The £29 boots (in black or grey) are bound to sell out fast so if you want a pair I suggest you get them into your basket as soon as you can!
