Katie Holmes wore some fabulous copper metallic pumps at the War of The World premiere. My friend is getting married and these shoes would be perfect for our bridesmaid's dresses. Can you help me figure out who makes these gorgeous shoes? - Susan
Of course! Katie's pumps were from Jimmy Choo, the style is 'Merrit', and the colour she wore was cracked metallic bronze. I can't find an online stockist of that particular colour, but they are part of the Autumn / Winter collection so you should be able to get them from a Choo boutique. If spending hundreds on bridesmaids shoes just isn't practical, Steve Madden's 'Darring' pumps are incredibly similar at $69.95, as are Nine West's 'Aarona for $59.99.
Somewhere in the world I'm sure there's a woman who might (under extreme 'I'm making an indie music video' circumstances) be able to wear these shoes (John Fluevog's $233.95'Gilley') and not look like a nutter. Sadly she's not me, and I'm guessing she's none of you either. Look at the heels!
Life does not get better than a pair of glittery Miu Miu ballet pumps. They're new in at Net a Porter for £205, and though we all know there are cheaper ones about, they don't have big rhinestones and perfectly rounded points. These are going straight to the top of my christmas list. Did you hear that, Santa? I'm a size 6 and a half...
This is one for all the ladies living in serously cold climates. If you love the toasty-warm look of Marc Jacobs wedge boots ($340) with their faux fur trim, but can't understand why they're made from completely impractical cream suede, then salvation is here. Rampage have come up with a cheaper alternative in a faux leather that's much better for the snow, rain and generally crappy weather that justifies boots of this style. They're a bargain at $59.
You'd have to have been living under a rather large rock not to have noticed that ribbons are a big Winter trend. Whether they're fastening a jacket or wrapped around a dress, a few lengths of satin or grosgrain go a long way. On shoes you need to be careful. Ballet chic is all well and good, but watch this look if you have ankles you'd rather keep hidden. If you think you've got the legs for them, these 'smoke and roses' pumps are reduced to $119.95 from almost $300 at Anthropologie. They'll look fabulous with your christmas party dress.
To those of you who're still emailing me in a rage because you weren't quick enough off the mark to get Topshop's £80 over the knee suede flat boots (or because - despite saying they offer international shipping - Topshop don't seem to want to ship them to the USA) here's another chance to get your hands a similar pair. You'll need to find an extra £30 from somewhere, as these babies are £110 from Poste Mistress at Office. And yes, there is international shipping available for an extra cost.
Thanks to everyone who voted last Wednesday. It'll come as no surprise to any of you that last week's over-the-top orange velvet and rhinestone sandal got a resounding Nay! You can all blame Lesilla for the monstrosity. They're trying to flog it for almost $1000! Now onto this week's Yay or Nay. The 'watch your step' boot isn't actually in production yet, but the designer wants to hear what you have to say on it, because obviously Shoewawa readers know their footwear! So...Yay or Nay, and why?
