Just the other day over at Catwalk Queen the many wonders of teal were being discussed (and there are many wonders, I'll have you know). And now I find these lovely little numbers courtesy of BCBG Max Azria at Bloomingdales in the exact same colour. It's fate, isn't it? The velvet blow slingbacks are $275. Far too expensive, really, but still nice to look at.
Many moon ago (ok, it was September) we told you that quilted ballet pumps were going to be big news this season. It was one of our top 'trends to try', and we stick by that even now, when it's freezing outside (we suffer in the name of style). If they're good enough for Kate Moss, they're good enough for us! If you've still not got hold of a pair, these ones from ASOS are a bargain at £18 a pair, and they even look like they have a decent sole.
I continue to be astounded by the quality of some of the boots that are on sale on the high street this year. These foldover leather boots with a kitten heel look like the kind of thing Sienna Miller would snap up in a quirky boutique, but they're actually £90 from Oasis. Wear them folded down with just about everything for a more casual look, or pull them up onto the thighs for a really current, stylish look (over jeans, not with a skirt, you're not in Pretty Woman). I'm so tempted to get myself a pair!
Could you try to find out where Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas got the shoes she wears in the video for 'My Humps'? They're black high heeled open toes, with a big pink ribbon bow on the back of them. - Nicola
Well, Nicola, you didn't say please, but I had a look for you anyway! Typically, today is the one day those lovely lady lumps aren't all over the TV every time I switch on the music channels, so I can't check, but it sounds like Fergie's shoes might be these Brian Atwood numbers. His shoes are quite difficult to find in the UK but you can try Browns in London. Otherwise, these are stocked at Saks for $645 if you happen to have a nice Yank friend who'll post them over to you, or use a service like Access USA.
There are certain types of shoes that women dream of owning. Manolo Blahnik pointy slingbacks, Jimmy Choo strappy sandals, Christian Louboutin leopard pumps and classic Ferragamo courts. But here's another to add to the list. Flat suede boots from Marc Jacobs, with scalloped tops and metallic trim. They look quite chunky around the ankles in this picture, but pulled on over jeans they're just perfect (not to mention comfy). They're $575 at Shopbop, and you'll barely take them off in the daytime!
More new shoes from the Spring collections for you...I know it's rubbing it in for those of us stuck in freezing cold countries, but our pals in in the southern hemisphere are in the middle of Summer at the moment, and who am I to deny them some gorgeous strappy shoes while they can actually wear them? These straw flower and kidskin heels are by Valentino and cost $690.
I'm looking for a pair of cheap metallic going-out shoes, but all the ones I've seen have really high heels. I just can't wear stilettos! Can you help find some low heeled, sparkly shoes? - Josie
I'd suggest you get yourself down to Miss Selfridge. These £45strappies look just as gorgeous as the high-heeled strappies that are floating around right now, but the low block heel provides you with much more support. You'll look great and be able to walk home. Perfect!
