A Miu Miu Maybe

SparklepeepI'll be honest with you. I just can't decide about these shoes, and I was very tempted to make them tomorrow's 'Yay or Nay' choice, but we've had so many sparkly stilettos in that category recently that I didn't want to flog a dead horse. These are new from Miu Miu at $385, and while I love the glittery upper, I'm not sure about the beige trim and tiny peep toe. What do you think. Are they fugly or fabulous?

For some reason the beige trim and the glitter together is gorgeous, I could even live with the bow, but that little peep toe is just useless and silly and not in that fun frivolous way that Miu Miu are so good at. So close to being a really great shoe.

fab-u-lous

SO fabulous. I just love sparkly frivolous shoes and these fit the bill perfectly..!

I love the glitter, the shape and the little peeptoe, but I really am not sure about the beigeness, it seems a very strange colour combination!

The bow is too small and looks akward with the little peep toe. It is all out of proportion!

lovely!

The strap with the button and the bow is too much for me, though the combination of the sparkle and the trim I find strange, original and appealing!!

I have a keen weakness for silver shoes, and these are just eccentric enough to find a place in my closet. I think the ankle strap balances out the peep toe for a modern 50's look...

I don't like beige and silver together. If they had been black &/or silver and silver I could forgive the other bits that are not so great. But then I'm easily distracted by shiny things.

FABULOUS! I love the beige/silver combination, so unexpected. The lines of the shoe are gorgeous too. The only think that is not hitting the all caps for me is the peep toe. I love the bow, love the trim, but would have been happier with a closed toe. However, I may have to splurge and just get 'em.

I can handle the peep toe and I would have loved them if it wasn't for that strap. It just doesn't fit!

I detest the peep toe, and the heel looks ridiculous. Strangely enough, the beige and silver together look fine to me. But overall, I don't like it. It's like all the parts of it somehow add up to less than the whole.

Fugly as fug! Yeuch!

Posted by: NML | November 29, 2005 7:34 PM

Like the beige and silver, nay on the heel and strap, I think the strap should have been the same beige. Neither fugly nor fabulous, but disappointing for Miu Miu. I'd cry "fab fab" if it was like Chinese Laundry or something.

Peep toe is WAY too tiny.

Love them. I think they are fabulous.

I think they're great, the colour, the sparkle, the heel, the strap, the beige... all done with great class! The only downfall is the peep toe, it should maybe be either a bit bigger, or not there at all. But otherwise, great! (I think the flats from this range are perfect tho!)

I think the beige color takes away from the playfulness...it just looks too neutral with the crazy silver sparkles. Also the peep toe should be bigger. Overall I would say NAY, Miu Miu could do a lot better.

velvet trim + glitter silver + nude leather strap = too many fashion trends in one shoe = fugly

it might be good in real person though,

If you love them you can get hold of a pair on Ebay at the moment in a size 36 1/2.

Posted by: TheRetailJunkie | November 30, 2005 12:18 PM

Actually, I think they are fabulous! I wish they were less expensive, because they would look amazing with my floor length, chocolate brown silk gown I bought to wear to the Philharmonic's New Year's Eve gala! (FYI - I'm going b/c I am a Philharmonic employee, not a rich person). The dress is a little too classic for me, and these would be the perfect thing to funk it up. Alas, the heel would probably hurt my feet, and the $385 would kiss my Christmas budget goodbye. Sigh.

Fabby fab fab - and did I mention fab?

They are absolutely gorgeous. I'd wear them in a heartbeat.

I love this shoe. It has a ton of elements that shouldn't work together, but somehow, they do and it's unexpected and AWESOME.

I have them without the peep toe - just a round toe - and the glitter is gold. But yesterday I bought the 35.5 and it was too small and I took them back and swapped for the 36 and the strap is too loose, so my foot comes out when I walk. Do I grin and bear it or give up on them for good? Harvey Nichols only has one of each size.

These definatly look like Hamptons or Beverly hills socialite material. A definate yay!

It's a too big mix between the 70'is and the 50'is. The beige and the glitter doesn't fit together. sorry.
