Yay or Nay Wednesday #12

Yaynay12We had the first definite 'yay' in a long time last week, with the gold heeled pumps which I can now tell you were Laundry by Shelli Segal's 'Janice' ($158.95). This week I thought it was time for a change, and some flats. So what do you all think of these buckled babies? Are they cute and chic, or old-fashioned and out of date? As usual, I'll reveal the price and designer next week. For now, cast your Yay or Nay votes and give your reasons...

Yay! These are so cute, and the buckles are a welcome departure from ballet flats with tiny bows.

Posted by: faerah | November 30, 2005 4:35 PM

Yay!!! Love them!!! classy!! My choice for office days!! I´d buy beige or leopard print.

Posted by: Jess | November 30, 2005 4:40 PM

Hmmm liking the leopard print, wouldn't be seen dead in the others. 3 out of 4 Nay

Posted by: TheRetailJunkie | November 30, 2005 4:51 PM

oh Yay!

I like. with a pair of skinny jeans and an Audrey vibe these are tres chic and classic, with a little departure from the norm with the buckle.

That said, you might find yourself standing next to a little old lady wearing them very differently...

Yay! I love them! I have this pair in red! The leopard prints are so cute!

Posted by: Heidi | November 30, 2005 5:31 PM

Yay - very classic, but wear them with the right things and they could look fabulous. Just don't try them with a sweater and knee length skirt!

Posted by: Ally | November 30, 2005 5:39 PM

Tres jolies !!!

Posted by: christophespb | November 30, 2005 6:27 PM

Yay! Simple, cute and probably very comfy!

Posted by: Emma | November 30, 2005 6:28 PM

Yay! Most of my shoes are flat and round toed like that. I especially love the leopard print!

Posted by: Anna | November 30, 2005 7:34 PM

Yay! I love flats, and interesting details like cutouts, buttons, and in this case buckles guarantee I'll like them.

Posted by: janellio | November 30, 2005 7:37 PM

Yay, simple and cute!

Posted by: Radina | November 30, 2005 8:08 PM

its a yay for the leopard print (obviously!!!! Im so ashamed of being utterly caught in the hype!) but a nay for the rest...the buckles look cheap and gaudy.

Posted by: Suzi | November 30, 2005 8:10 PM

Nay. I wouldn't look twice at these shoes...even it they were dirt cheap. Which they do look it. My opinion could be flavored by the fact that I'm petite and not leggy so trying to pull off skinny pants with flat shoes just looks 80's schoolgirl rather than chic.

Posted by: jen | November 30, 2005 8:10 PM

Yay!

Posted by: kate | November 30, 2005 8:29 PM

A definite yay! A real Audrey Hepburn vibe indeed, could be very cute.

Posted by: oliviacw | November 30, 2005 8:35 PM

Nay. There is nothing special about these.

Posted by: Mindy | November 30, 2005 8:47 PM

yay! i love the leopard ones

Posted by: aja | November 30, 2005 8:51 PM

Yay. They're simple, but cute; perfect for a slightly dressed-up outfit that needs a touch of old-fashioned class without becoming too drab and clunky or too glitzy and tacky.

Posted by: Casey | November 30, 2005 8:51 PM

Hmmm... not sure. The leopard print ones are cute but the buckles look a bit cheap. Nay I think

Posted by: Selina | November 30, 2005 9:12 PM

A big YAY especially on the leopards. I like the shape of the toe and the way it contrasts with the buckle. I don't think the buckles look *cheap* so much as...whatever a positive word is for flimsy! LOL! Delicate? They're not clunky like so many of the buckles out there now, and for those of us who aren't in our 20s (or who are TWICE that- LOL!) but still like to look chic, it's nice to see a shoe like this!

Posted by: OzLady | November 30, 2005 9:22 PM

Yay

Posted by: Barb | November 30, 2005 9:46 PM

Yay - but lets hope it doesn't snow.

Posted by: Deb | November 30, 2005 10:06 PM

Yay! I love the brown and leopard pairs with a pair of jeans and a blazer!

Posted by: christine | November 30, 2005 10:18 PM

A qualified yay for me. I don't love the leopard ones or the white ones, though I don't hate them either. I really like the darks.

Posted by: Kiba | November 30, 2005 10:22 PM

Yay! Especially the black ones.

Posted by: Mims | November 30, 2005 11:03 PM

Yay! I have a pair of pink ones similar to these and I'll buy them in any other colour I can find!

Posted by: pete | December 1, 2005 2:05 AM

Yay, I like them all.

Posted by: ashley | December 1, 2005 2:45 AM

Yay, I especially love the leopard print

Posted by: C | December 1, 2005 3:04 AM

yay!

Posted by: Sarah | December 1, 2005 3:25 AM

yay on the leopard and brown ones... the other colours look kinda cheap

Posted by: lily | December 1, 2005 5:31 AM

Nay, definitely. Although I am definitely a flats girl myself, I never liked the buckle, it isn't very inspiring, looks a bit bulky and just to add to it all, has been all over the place for the past few years... no! Do you really want to look like a member of the women's institute?? And I really don't care how much they cost, they are sooo 4 seasons ago!

Posted by: Marta | December 1, 2005 3:21 PM

I say yay! These shoes are cute! I would especially purchase the leopard print. They would go with anything, but I would especially rock a sixties look: with a pair of ankle pants, a sleeveless sweater and a scarf around my neck.

Posted by: Danni Jay | December 1, 2005 3:43 PM

I like flats and round toes and buckles, but we've seen about 8 million versions of this shoe over the past few years. these aren't offensive, just kinda boring. Nay except for the leopard.

Posted by: circus | December 1, 2005 8:47 PM

tons of versions of these for sure, a good old reliable if you ask me, maybe too easy for some, but if i am right these should be on sale about now at one of my fav stores in NYC with the dot com at the end!

Posted by: kaelea ann | December 2, 2005 4:24 AM

YAY! these are soooo cute! they would look great with evrything.xxx

Posted by: hana | December 2, 2005 9:26 AM

Nay. I can see by all the yays that I am living on my own little planet, but I have seen these shoes during an intensive search for animal print flats for my wife, and that buckle, while a great idea, is so large as to be completely out of proportion to the rest of the shoe. I got her these instead (and in the more conventional color, not this one): http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/3734006/c/36921.html

Posted by: Tom | December 2, 2005 3:38 PM

Oohhh these are adorable! The leapord ones are tres cute! yay, yay, yay and yay!

Posted by: little sonfica | December 4, 2005 5:02 PM

Yay! Simple and pretty.

Posted by: angel | December 5, 2005 1:00 PM

Naaaaaaaay. The buckle DOES look gaudy & cheap like someone else said. If it were smaller, I might have said Yay.

Posted by: Andrea | December 6, 2005 10:11 AM

overall yay, but I think it would be better if the buckle and strap were a little bit smaller
