Yay Or Nay Wednesday #8

Yaynay8Last week we had 15 yays, a bunch of undecideds and a decent crop of nays for the two-tone blue heels. So I suppose I'd better reveal that they were Dolce & Gabbana (I'm sure a lot of you already knew) and can be bought at Saks for $895. And now onto this week's shoe. I'm keeping the brand and price a surprise again, so if you know where these are from don't tell! I'll reveal all next week, for now it's up to you to cast your votes. Are these sequin courts sex on legs or a sparkle too far? You know the drill - Yay or Nay and why!

(Don't forget to vote on the bag at The Bag Lady too)

Yay, but only if you are wearing them with something simple, and let the shoes do the talking.

Yay - Anything with sequins is bound to get a yay from me, they're a classic shape and the colour looks like it would go with quite alot of stuff. Only thing I don't like is the heel, it's just too high for my liking!

Posted by: Anna | November 2, 2005 4:34 PM

Nay! I don't care much for the color or the sparklies. I would be worried with every step that I would dislodge a bunch of sequins.

Posted by: Gigolo Kitty | November 2, 2005 5:01 PM

I say yay- sequins are in right now and with a simple black dress and some nice jewelry they'd be stunning.

Posted by: OzLady | November 2, 2005 5:37 PM

Nay im a afraid. altho i dont mind sprakles and sequins i feel that on a shoe of this style and maturity it looks out of place and a little mutton-dressed-as-lamb try hard. Maybe of the toe was rounded and the heel less they wudnt b that bad...

Posted by: little sonfica | November 2, 2005 5:51 PM

Yay, Yay. They look so cool, I'd def wear them, to glam up my jeans.

Posted by: Emma | November 2, 2005 5:59 PM

Yay, but you have to have accessories to match and be wearing a simple outfit. I'd get them... that is if they are in my price range.

Posted by: Angel | November 2, 2005 6:10 PM

Yes - they're gorgeous!

Posted by: Jess | November 2, 2005 6:28 PM

Nay. They look like dress up shoes little girls would love.

Posted by: Mindy W. | November 2, 2005 6:45 PM

Nay! Unless, of course, you happen to be a Las Vegas hooker.

Posted by: circus | November 2, 2005 7:16 PM

Nay - the shape is too conservative and looks old, and the sequins are just tacky so they just look kind of confused

Posted by: Ally | November 2, 2005 7:23 PM

I know they're not red, but "follow the yellow brick road" always comes to mind when I see sequins. Nay.

Posted by: Heidi | November 2, 2005 7:40 PM

yay! - anything covered in gold sequins gets my vote! altho they would look better with a round toe

Posted by: Sophie | November 2, 2005 7:43 PM

Nay - I imagine them on a horny old lady. :S

Posted by: Radina | November 2, 2005 7:50 PM

nay! looks like something a gypsie-turned-rich would wear

Posted by: julia | November 2, 2005 7:56 PM

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW THESE ARE ICKY LOOKING!!
And if I wanted shoes this ugly, I'd just get Payless shoes, sequins and a glue gun, not pay that much money! Come on Dolce, you can do better!

Posted by: DVG | November 2, 2005 8:02 PM

Yay - the crafty girl in me loves these, whatever falls off the shoe can just get glued onto something else.

Posted by: Artchicken | November 2, 2005 8:16 PM

Nar, no, nay, on two counts: the sequins aren't my style, and the dark non-matching heel is jarring and cheap-looking.

Posted by: Mary | November 2, 2005 8:28 PM

Yay all the way baby! Keep the outfit simple and let the shoes shine, they're gorgeous!

Posted by: Becky | November 2, 2005 9:24 PM

Yay all the way baby! Keep the outfit simple and let the shoes shine, they're gorgeous!

I can't ignore the price on this one. Nay. They don't look exquisite or unique enough to even become a lust item. I agree that they would look fab with certain things but I can just see the truckloads of knock offs at a fraction of the price that are sure to come our way.

Posted by: Jen | November 2, 2005 10:53 PM

NAY!

Posted by: merci | November 2, 2005 11:29 PM

Nay, it looks as if you walked through the fish market in the pumps and fish scales attached themselves to your shoe. Maybe if they were a different colour?

Posted by: Ling | November 3, 2005 12:32 AM

Nay. I just don't like them. I know the pointed toe is very trendy of late (and I guess some might consider it classic, even) but I really hate it. I also don't like the color. All matters of personal taste, really. I do think it could work on some folks, but I would never ever wear them, not even if I thought they'd look good on me.

Posted by: Kiba | November 3, 2005 1:18 AM

NAY! NAY! NAY!

Posted by: ashley | November 3, 2005 2:34 AM

Yeep. Nay!! Too spangly for such a... severe shape of shoe.

Posted by: Mims | November 3, 2005 7:22 AM

Nay!

Posted by: sasa | November 3, 2005 9:09 AM

Tut tut, some of you aren't reading properly! LAST weeks shoes were the $800 Dolce & Gabbana shoes. I'm not revealing the price and brand of these until next week....

Posted by: Gemma | November 3, 2005 10:45 AM

Ooo... they couldn't be any Yay-er if they tried!!Despite Vegas hooker and yellow brick road jibes, they are fantastically understated, perfect for sneaking into your work wordrobe, or for those who find the full on spaklies a bit overwhelming!!!

Posted by: Sista Lou | November 3, 2005 11:50 AM

ooh so NAY! To me, they are kinda tacky.

Posted by: Lily | November 3, 2005 12:45 PM

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

It's like 50/50 for me. I'm leaning toward Yay. Yes. Yay. But I'd have to be in the right mood for them. I'm not fond of the heel somehow.

Posted by: angel | November 3, 2005 1:58 PM

Yay! they would be fabulous under jeans, with black hose (opaque i would think) and a mini skirt, or with anything in your "stoned rock star" category ... think overly adorned velvet military-cut jacket and too long sparkly scarf!

Posted by: Sulee | November 3, 2005 4:03 PM

I think they're a yay. I have to agree with the previous posts- they should go with something casual to dress it up. I think they would look good under jeans.

Posted by: kirstin | November 4, 2005 12:49 AM

Nay. But only just. I love pointies, and i love sequins. but you can't try and pull off classy sequinned pointies if it's gonna end up looking like this. The sparkles are too dull and the shoes to serious to be really worth it!

Posted by: Sophie | November 4, 2005 3:52 PM

Yay! I love them ... but to be worn with something very simple (your little black dress). I think they are gorgeous! Love the heel size and the over all shape. For people like myself with a defined arch I think it would look really sexy.

Posted by: Gol | November 4, 2005 7:14 PM

Yay. Great for the office holiday party with an austere black suit or dress - as long as you can sit down the whole time.

Posted by: rose | November 8, 2005 12:32 AM

I say yay because sequins are insanely in style right now, but one thing you need to do is make more than one color of those, but do keep them simple for the fact that they are covered in sequins completely is loud enough for a modern day. So yay if you make more colors such as bronze (silver type of color is already made I can see that) and maybe...well I'll leave the rest up to you but over all yes these shoes should be made!

Posted by: Dylan | November 19, 2005 7:37 PM

oh hell nay

Posted by: julien | March 2, 2006 4:24 PM

Definatley a YAy. they would go perfectly with a glitzy brown dress liek the the olsen twins were weraing at one of those recent celebrity parties- google image tehm n u'll see the pic im talking about...
