Jessica Simpson's Bruges-alikes

JsbrugesJessica Simpson has done it again. Here's more proof, if you needed it, that her footwear 'designs' involve taking designer shoes that she's been famous for wearing and creating cheap versions of them. I'm not sure how Christian Louboutin is going to feel about these 'Barb' pumps, a blatant homage to the much-copied 'Bruges' pump, but fans are snapping them up at the bargain price of $78.95. They're available in black or white patent, and there's also a slingback, peep toe version, the 'Amy', also in red. [Thanks to Issa]

Geez! I can't find it anywhere.... Nordstroms is the only one I can find who sells it and it's sold out. No information about it being backordered either---I asked. :( Bummer. Anyone found it somewhere else? I like it---just wish the heel was 4 inch

Posted by: josie | March 10, 2006 8:09 PM

Wow, telling Shoewawa about this backfired, because when I went to order it, it completely sold out within hours. However, I recommend calling any Nordstrom and asking them to look it up in their nationwide inventory. They did that for me, and I'm getting two sizes shipped to me within a week. You can then return it directly at the store if you don't like how it looks. I live around San Francisco, and they said no stores in California stock it right now. They're shipping it to me from Massachusetts and New York!

Posted by: issa | March 10, 2006 10:10 PM

I just found them! On eBay, and the bidding starts at $100...
I already called Nordstrom and they're sold out, no word wether they'll re-stock them.

Posted by: Daphne | March 10, 2006 11:05 PM

Did you call the website? Or did you call an actual store and have a sales clerk search for you via their nationwide inventory? They usually offer to search for you, and if they find it, they'll have the items shipped to you or you can pick them up in-store. Anyway, good luck, all! These look to be the best knock-offs of the Bruges yet.

Posted by: issa | March 11, 2006 12:11 AM

I ended up calling a Nordstrom store and they did the same thing for me issa.... thank you for the suggestion! Nordstrom says the heel is 3.5 inch, but I had a sales person measure the Amy (which I believe is the same height) and they measure at 4 inches so hopefully it will be high enough to some close to Bruges look.

Posted by: josie | March 12, 2006 3:11 PM

Dang! I was holding out for a KO with stacked wood heels but these look great too.. But they're sold out and are going for $149 on ebay. :(

Posted by: Antoinette | March 13, 2006 3:47 AM

Good news! Nordstrom just got in boxes of these all over California (all over the West Coast?) this past Saturday! But they're flying off the shelves fast, and they're already out of certain sizes at certain stores. Remember you can call a store and have them get a pair for you from a different store.

And FYI, the sales person who helped me said the shoes run a little small because they are narrow. ;D

Posted by: issa | March 13, 2006 10:44 PM

I finally got a pair! It took forever on the phone with a Nordstrom sales person, but I finally got them.
They're sending them from CA to me in FL, according to the person I talked to, they are only available on the west coast stores
Thanks for the great tip Issa!

Posted by: Daphne | March 14, 2006 11:44 PM

I bought the "Amy" style, which was much more comfortable than this "barb" style. I stalked nordstrom, the very nice salesman put a pair on hold for me. Finally got this shoe! "Barb" style runs narrow by the toe area just to warn you. but are pretty much true to size.

Posted by: Cindy | March 15, 2006 4:32 AM

i took these shoes to a shoe repair store...they professionally stretched them since the patent leather is SO tight and narrow around the front of the shoe. I recommend stretching em a lil if they feel real tight. Get em stretched--DON'T go up a size, the length will be too long. any questions...just ask me!

Posted by: cindy | March 15, 2006 6:25 PM

Cindy,
How much did it cost to have them stretched? That's a great idea.... I haven't received mine yet, but only ordered my usual size and am nervous about them being to tight in the toe area as others have said. Thanks!

Posted by: Josie | March 15, 2006 7:22 PM

Thanks for the great suggestion. I just ordered it from a NS store, it will be arriving in 5 days..^_^

Posted by: Dani | March 15, 2006 9:00 PM

Do any of you know if the Amy comes only in white patent leather or other colors/materials? Do you think you could get away with wearing the Barb in late spring/summer or better to go with the Amy? I'd appreciate your advice!!

Posted by: Anna | March 16, 2006 4:03 AM

I got mine today---LOVE them. The toe is a bit snug, but I think it's just the style---which is fabulous and I'm willing to suffer a bit since I love the look! The heel is a good height (could be a bit higher for me...but lower is probably more practical anyway.) I think the Amy comes in black patent too. I plan on wearing my Barbs throughout the summer---I'm not a fan of the sling back, but would like the Amy if it was closer to the look of Steven's Lalo.

Posted by: Josie | March 16, 2006 6:47 PM

Josie:
Exacly how high is the hell? I'm still waiting for mine, and I really hope they're 4". Thanks.

Posted by: Daphne | March 16, 2006 6:55 PM

Sorry...I mean the heel

Posted by: Daphne | March 16, 2006 6:56 PM

Josie, i took the shoes to the repair shoe store. the extremely sweet man charged me $5 to stretch the shoe! I gave him $10 though, 5 just seemed inhumane! I usually am about a 6.5 shoe, but these i bought in 6. 6.5 length was too long..however, the style of the shoe is just real narrow around the toe area. If you ordered your usual size- it will fit, as long as you have em stretched a lil. :)

Posted by: cindy | March 16, 2006 10:04 PM

Oh my goodness. I stalked Nordstrom too here on the West Coast and they sent me my beautiful pair. LOVE THEM! They're comfy, and make the leg look great.

I live in Michigan and the Nordstom in Somerset Mall sold out in my size which is a size 7. So I drove to OakBrook, Ill and brought the white and black patent "barb" pump I loved them so much. The red patent had sold out in my size as well only a size 10 was available. Anyhow they look good and a little tight at the toe area but that's ok. I thank showawa for posting the link to Nordstrom so I could buy them Thanks again.

Hey! is there ANY PLACE TO FIND THESE SHOES!!!

Posted by: Brittany | March 22, 2006 12:53 AM

brittany,I dont think so...unless nordstrom restocks them

Posted by: cindy | March 22, 2006 7:04 AM

Ebay has them, but you are going to have to pay double...it might be worth it...it was to me :0)

Posted by: Lajuan | March 23, 2006 9:35 PM

I called the 1-800 Nordstrom Customer Service number on Monday, they ever so kindly called some of their larger stores around the country and found some for me! Having the black pumps & white open toe shipped to the east coast from Portland. The salesman said that they are getting tons of calls. I had a bid on ebay, but the realized they still had them at Nordstrom. But, VERY scarce at this point! But, high demand will sometimes bring about more supply. Good luck!

Posted by: Ele | March 23, 2006 10:22 PM

urban outfitters has a version for 58.00 on backorder till 4/10/06

Posted by: canmicjen | March 28, 2006 8:20 PM

Im so excited i called the Nordstroms in Oakbrook, IL to see of they had my size in the Barb. . no such luck, but the salesman said he could do a nationwide search and placed an order for me over the phone for them. I'm getting them shipped to me from I dont know where, don't really care, just super excited that they even do that (who knew!!)

Posted by: B | March 31, 2006 9:42 PM

ok, so i had them shipped from oregon to stonestown in san francisco, and they guy helping me wasnt there for 4 days, so they were in the dang store, and someone took them even though they were for me! either an employee that wanted them or that gave them to someone else, isnt that messed up!!! ahh! so i called a million nordstroms today and they are getting new shipments at the end of april or mid may which is awesome! so if u want the shoes like i do, put urself on a couple of random waiting lists, because they will be coming in!

Posted by: Christina | April 7, 2006 9:19 PM

Does anyone know if they'll ship to Canada?

Posted by: C | April 8, 2006 5:27 AM

von maur in chicago carries them. I saw them at the lombard store

Posted by: soods | April 9, 2006 7:36 PM

Seattle here...I just bought these at the Bon (well, technically Macy's but I prefer saying Bon Marche). I was squemish about the words "Jessica Simpson" but decided to try them on anyway. OMFG, they are sexy. It figures they're a Christiain Louboutin rip-off, I love his shoes. The sling backs looked good too, but took this over the top look a little to under-clad for work. My bf flipped when he saw them and people at work, men and women, have been stopping me to oggle.

I don't like her pop-music, but thank you Jessica, for making great designers accessible to us average people!!!

"von maur in chicago carries them. I saw them at the lombard store" posted by soods.
soods, ur a genuious! this is christina again, i wrote about how my nordstrom ones got taken from the back bc the guy helping me was gone for 4 days! ok so i called von maur yesterday (4/11) and they totally have them! i got my black patent barbs in size 8, and they will be here in a couple days! and bc i live in cali, no shippin cost or tax! lovely huh! so if u want the barbs asap and dont waint to wait a month for nordstrom to get them in again, or buy online ebay for like 150 bux, call von maur right now!!!!!

Posted by: christina | April 13, 2006 10:29 PM

I just bought the much sought after barb pump and they are soo hot!! My boyfriend's jaw dropped when he saw how sexy they look put on! Only set back from the shoe is that for some reason they do not look too good with jeans. . you have to find the right cut and color to pull it off, but look absolutley amazing with bermuda shorts, dresses, etc. anything that shoes off your shoe. Also I wore them once and the shoe stretched and was flipping of my heel, so im getting them exchanged for a smaller size :( but shoe is HOT HOT HOT!!

Posted by: Andy | April 18, 2006 5:26 PM

i got my shoes! and i am in love!!!!!! i usually wear 7 1/2 to an 8 shoe, so i got my black patent barbs in an 8. the heel was flipping off, so i just put in those heel inserts ( u know, the padding that just sticks on in the back. you can get them anywhere, like rite-aid, longs, wherever), and now they are totally fine to walk in! if they strech even more, i will just put in more padding. these shoes are GREAT!

Posted by: christina | April 19, 2006 7:24 PM

nordstrom still has them. I called my local store and they searched and found 4 in CA that have them so hurry! i can't wait, I LOVE LOVE these heels!

Posted by: rebecca | April 20, 2006 9:01 PM

Wher did you see that message? Im worried now, cause i just ordered mine from dillards yesterday.

Posted by: Karin | April 25, 2006 10:36 PM

did dillard's sell out of the barb?

Posted by: Karen | April 26, 2006 1:35 AM

What size did you order, Gloria?

Posted by: Slick | April 26, 2006 8:19 AM

I ordered an 8.5. It looks like you can still add the Barb to your shopping cart but now it looks like there are no guarantees if you'll get it or not. I really hate shopping sites that do that! :(

Posted by: Gloria | April 26, 2006 1:38 PM

hey guys, its me christina again. well i had my 8s, but am returning them for a 7.5 now. (i average between a 7 and an 8). the 8s did get too streched for me afterall hehe, even with the padding in the back. so that is the dealio! so it seems the best options to get the barbs right now are
von maur in chicago
dillards
and nordstrom in like mid-may...
gosh, i sure do love these shoes!!!

Posted by: christina | April 26, 2006 8:46 PM

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!! I just got my pumps! Im so so happy. They're perfect and so comfy!! Girls, theres still hope if you haven't gotten a pair yet go to dillards.com. HURRY!
To KAREN dont know you sistah , but thanks to you i dont have to wait for nordtrom and im one of the few that have the barb in oahu. Stay stylish ladies!! ;)

Posted by: Karin | April 28, 2006 3:26 AM

hey guys, its christina. so i guess my 7 1/2's are on my way! so i have a question... how is everyone doing with sizing? are they running small for people or what? its funny bc a lot of times i will get shoes that are a tinge big (the 8's that i got for example), and they were just too big in the back! hopefuly the 7.5's work out. i could always strech them out in the front. i have another quetsion tho... when a person streches them, the shoe still looks ok in the front right, like not damaged or smudged right? ahhh, help me!

Posted by: christina | April 28, 2006 4:19 PM

Mines werent that tight in the front so instead i just wore a really thick sock and put on the pumps for about thirty minutes or less -it may hurt a little cause its so tight- but it breaks the shoe in. Getting it professionally stretched is a good way also, and they better not ruin it!! Thats suppose to be their "profession".

Received an email saying that it is backordered from the manufacturer & once it is back in stock they will ship the item to me. I'll just have to keep wearing the ones I bought from Hot Topic- those ones aren't bad, received alot of compliments.

I won my little sister a pair of Jessica Simpson's "WHITE" barb patent pumps in a size 6 for her birthday on ebay. However, it doesn't fit her since she needs size 6.5. I bought the pumps for 126.55 including shipping. If you know anyone that is interested. Please let me know. I just want to get my money back so I can try to find her another one in her size.

I just got my pair of Black Barb's from Nordstroms today!!! I was on a wait list for 3 weeks. Nordstrom in Providence, Rhode Island got a shipment in this morning.I know they don't have them in red. They also have the Amy. When I picked them up they said they were going fast but they do have some in stock!!!! As for sizing, I wear a 6.5 and got them in a 6.5. They fit perfect. They front is a little narrow but the actual size fit like a 6.5. I wore them with a pair of socks around the house and they streched out enough to fit perfectly!! They are so much better in person. I am so happy with them. Worth the wait:)

Posted by: Alissa | May 13, 2006 11:17 PM

hey girls... they sell the shoes at lord and taylor... and the white barb is on the clearance rack for only $29.99... sooo hurry hurry
oh and they sell them at macys too but theyre not on sale.

Hey ladies, I finally found a pair at Baker's Shoes in Dallas, TX. At the NorthPark Mall. The Black Patent Barbs. Got'em for about $80.00. I love them! They are such a great look. They fit true to size, but are tight in the toe. I'm going to try and stretch them by wearing a pair of thick socks around the house.

Try BAKERS shoes.
