Yay or Nay Wednesday - Bridal Special

YaynaybrideLast week's shoe (revealed halfway through voting to be a $170 Betsey Johnson design) was definitely a love / hate thing, with 18 yays, 24 nays and some very passionate comments ("is there an option for vomit?"). I love a bit of controversy! This week, in celebration of the new Shiny blog -Bridalwave (who're also running a yay or nay type feature this week) I've found a bridal shoe for you to vote on. Would you wear this shoe for your big day? Yay or Nay and why?

Ps. Please don't mention the name of the brand when voting if you recognise the shoe! I reveal it a week later so (most) people aren't swayed by designer names.

yay!
i'm loving the whole bows on the back of shoes thing atm- i fell in love with those brian atwood ones that fergie wore in the my humps vid and i've been trying to find something similar ever since.

Posted by: tracey | March 8, 2006 6:23 PM

YAYish. The bow in the back is lovely, but I somehow see it disrupting the way a dress hangs if it is ankle or floor-length. Also, I wonder how well attached they can be to your foot - you don't want the shoe to slip off as you're dancing!

Posted by: Ulrika | March 8, 2006 6:31 PM

Yay! For wedding purposes. Loving the bow, cute! :) Although I'd probably go for something with an open toe for my wedding...and maybe some sparkles and diamonds. However, I know nothing about weddings and what would be appropriate. I wouldn't want to come off sounding like I'm imagining a Paris Hilton-esque wedding....

Good thing Bridalwave just opened to help me out for when (and if) I were to get married.

Posted by: Christina | March 8, 2006 6:41 PM

Yay! But my guess is you would need to wear a knee length dress to show off those fabulous bows. After the wedding, I would promptly get them dyed and keep on wearing them too.

Posted by: Camilla Bridalwave | March 8, 2006 6:42 PM

Nay. I agree with Ulrika. The first thing that crossed my mind was worrying about the shoe staying on my foot. And not just while dancing, while walking down the aisle when everyone is staring at you.

Posted by: Mindy | March 8, 2006 6:42 PM

No wAY. That bow on the back would be seriously over-the-top when paired with any but the most minimalist wedding dresses, and I'm not sure moving would be an option.

Posted by: K | March 8, 2006 6:49 PM

YAY!! I agree with Tracey, I absolutley loved those Brian Atwood on Fergie, and I'm loving this ones too. If someone knows where I can find a similar pair let me know.

Posted by: Daphne | March 8, 2006 7:00 PM

Yay. The heel looks managable (I'm not very good with heels) and I love the detail on the back. Plus the cut-out sides are sexy. My only objection is with the pointy toe. I'm not a big fan of the pointy-toe look.

Posted by: Melanie | March 8, 2006 7:26 PM

Yay, they are pretty! I like the bow and the cut-out design, though they are a little pointy for my taste.

Posted by: iheartpink | March 8, 2006 7:30 PM

Umm... can I have a maybe-leaning-to-nay? They're ok, I wouldn't point and laugh but I wouldn't wear them myself as I think there's a lot nicer stuff out there. The big dilemma is, are they expensive and is it worth spending a ginormous amount of cash on a pair of shoes you'll (hopefully) only wear once or are they cheap and would you want cheap shoes on your big day!?!
This is why I'll need a wedding planner with a strict budget!

Posted by: Kat | March 8, 2006 8:12 PM

They're not perfection but the bow is cute. For wedding attire they seem pretty classy to me

Posted by: kate | March 8, 2006 8:24 PM

YAY! this is SO cute..... i can't wait for next week when you reveal the name.... i hope they aren't super expensive either..... i need something cute like this for my wedding! :)

Posted by: tiffany | March 8, 2006 8:36 PM

Ew, Nay! Before I even saw it was a yay or nay Wednesday I had a strong ewwww reaction and wanted to look away from the ugly shoe!

Posted by: Andrea | March 8, 2006 9:02 PM

I like this. But they do not come in pure snow white, if I remember correctly. Style YAY. Color Nay.

Posted by: Heidi | March 8, 2006 9:20 PM

Nay. The bow on the back is irresistably cheeky, and I do love the cutout sides, but pointy toe is definitely not bride-friendly. And the heels are too low. They just don't work.

Posted by: Madeline | March 8, 2006 9:59 PM

They look like Laura Ashley. NAY!

Posted by: Catherine | March 8, 2006 11:39 PM

NAY.The bow is cute but a little too tacky when paired up with a wedding gown.

Posted by: tania | March 9, 2006 12:25 AM

yay. i wouldnt wear them to my wedding,i would want something higher and with toe cleavage, but its a simple cute shoe that when paired with the right wedding dress could look quite charming.

That bow isn't the greatest looking thing on that shoe but its ok, seems like it needs repositioning.

Hey I checked out that Shoe site, looks pretty cool. I like the stories, they are quite an adventure. ShoeJam.com, interesting name...

hmm i'm going to say yay but i'm not sure i'd actually wear them to my wedding... the bow is cute but something about he rest of it seems a bit matronly to me.

Posted by: lily | March 9, 2006 7:24 AM

YAY! Ohh..such a cute shoe. So very feminine and simple in a way - it's something I'd wear to my wedding - or even with a denim pencil skirt. But that's just me - doing something different :)

Nay... have we returned to the 80's? What is the point of that horrific bow on the back? It looks like someone has taken a perfectly decent shoe and thought "ooh I know, lets stick something one it..." and the only thing they had to hand was a stupid big white bow. NO NO NO!!!!!!

Posted by: Jillaine | March 9, 2006 9:44 AM

Nay, imagine from the back which is the view many people would get - would just be a bit of material - too 80's, too Laura ashley

Posted by: Deb | March 9, 2006 10:06 AM

yay, i would probably wear something more sparkly for my wedding though.

Posted by: hana | March 9, 2006 11:30 AM

I'll give it a yay, although I'm not sure I'd wear a pointy toed shoe on my wedding day. It's still a lovely shoe though, very pretty, and I love the bow.

Posted by: Anna | March 9, 2006 1:36 PM

Yay for someone else, but not for me. It's a cute shoe, but if I'm going to be on my feet all day, I'd want something with a more substantial heel, and say, a strap. But for someone comfortable with the heel and style, as I know a few of my friends are, I'd say yay.

Posted by: Alix | March 9, 2006 3:32 PM

NAY! Pointy toes combined with fluffy 80's style bow? Doesn't work for Bridal unless the dress is very simple (so you can get away with the fluffy bow) or unless the dress completely obscures the shoes (in the way that princessy dresses with full skirts tend to do). Bridal shoes, in my mind, were something that was very very important to me - and these just aren't pretty (the bow just looks glued on!). To top it off, it has a high heel that many brides would be put off wearing as well - you wouldn't even want to dance in them for long. Nay nay nay!

Posted by: Ratty | March 9, 2006 4:09 PM

NAY!! I don't think the bow works at all.

Posted by: Cherry | March 11, 2006 3:11 PM

Yay--I love the D'Orsay pump shape and the bow works, but yes, only if the gown isn't some heavily embellished, covered-in-tulle confection. And I also agree that it can be dyed and the bow taken off to be used another day

Posted by: mrshobbes | March 14, 2006 6:18 AM

Sort of Yay - love the pointed toe and the bow but I would go for a much higher, thinner heel - both for the wedding and after (at the office).

Posted by: Andrea | May 12, 2006 10:55 PM

What is wrong with all you people?! These are the most gorgeous wedding shoes I have EVER seen!!
Not only do they have the perfect heel, and perfect height for a wedding, but they've got a cute bow on the back!
I am in love.
I wonder who I can marry so I can wear them?
