Yay or Nay Wednesday

YaynaywoveFirstly an update on last week's yay or nay. In general the burnt orange peep toes from C Label got a yay, so for those of you interested in buying a pair, get yourself to ShopBop, where they can be found for $225. This weekI'd love to hear what you have to say about these woven slides. Summer chic or super slutty? Yay or Nay, and why?

Nay! Nay! Nay! These look like something Jessica Simpson would wear. (And they look uncomfortable too!)

Posted by: Peggy | March 29, 2006 4:27 PM

Eeek, nay. Too chunky.

Posted by: Radina | March 29, 2006 4:52 PM

Nay! Looks like somebody sliced up a wicker basket.

Posted by: K | March 29, 2006 5:37 PM

I think with the right (simple) outfit, they could be a Yay, but it's too risky, they could too easliy look hooker-ish. ( I agree that they look like something Simpson would wear.) Nay.

Nay, I don't really like shoes without any kind of back on them, they're far too high, the wicker effect is nasty and they appear to be held together with paper fasteners. They remind me of something Jessica Simpson would wear.

Posted by: Anna | March 29, 2006 5:56 PM

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeew! they're just terrible, wicker's a dodgy material for shoes anyway, even without that massive overload.

Posted by: Helena | March 29, 2006 6:19 PM

Two words: trailer park.

Posted by: kitpixie | March 29, 2006 6:28 PM

Nay! Neither chic nor slutty - just rather boring and a bit cheap-looking. Would the whicker on the insole massage or irritate, I wonder? I wouldn't be prepared to wear them to find out!

Posted by: Arnez | March 29, 2006 6:30 PM

yuk (barfs)
ewww hu made those monstrosities!

NAY

Posted by: little sonfica | March 29, 2006 6:56 PM

Love them! Simple slide but the added funk of texture really spices it up. The color would make tan feet look even sexier and I like shoes with hardware. Would look fabulous with jeans, skirts, dresses, etc. I do agree with the Jessica Simpson comment though but I'm willing overlook that downfall.

Posted by: ShoeGurl | March 29, 2006 7:22 PM

NAY! It's pure overkill once the woven material moved onto the heals. It would even make perfectly pedicured feet look scaley. Not a good look.

Posted by: Ulrika | March 29, 2006 7:34 PM

Nay. If it had a plain heel it would be cute, but all wicker-all the time makes it look like Pier 1 tried to expand into footwear and failed. Dismally.

Posted by: OzLady | March 29, 2006 7:42 PM

hmmm i dunno...

i personally wouldn't go out of my way to buy them, but i can't see what's so horrific about them... and *whispers* i like jessica simpson... *feels ashamed now*

kind of yay...

Posted by: tracey | March 29, 2006 8:37 PM

Disgusting! Hate the shape, hate the wicker. NAY.

Posted by: circus | March 29, 2006 8:42 PM

Nay. They're just ugly, and they don't look well-made.

Posted by: Casey | March 29, 2006 8:43 PM

NAY! Can you say Trash-tacular...

Posted by: seema | March 29, 2006 8:57 PM

I am surprised at how many people don't like these shoes! I think they are cute and would look good with some nice jeans and a flowing, loose-fitted top.

Yay for me!

Posted by: Sarah-Jean | March 29, 2006 9:07 PM

They're just too trendy. Plus, looks like they'd be hell to spend the day in. I'm gonna have to give them a nay. They just look last season and annoyingly boho, like something Chloe Sevigny would wear.

Posted by: Madeline | March 29, 2006 10:35 PM

Nay. Basketweave on my feet= serious chafing. Not only that, the color is just a bit pukey.

Posted by: Melanie | March 29, 2006 11:52 PM

Nay. Too 1980s "Candies" for me. Plus, I think they'd fall off my feet in no time.

Posted by: oliviacw | March 30, 2006 12:20 AM

nay....!

Posted by: Claire | March 30, 2006 1:45 AM

The kind of shoes most people hate.. Jess Simpson-esque they may be.. but I say YAY! I would definitely work these shoes with a simple a-line white skirt and a summery top.. and it's winter where I live!

Posted by: Sally | March 30, 2006 7:20 AM

Nay - they look that they would be worn by someone with a matching tan!

Posted by: Deb | March 30, 2006 2:17 PM

Nay. The all over weave is too much.

Posted by: Y. | March 30, 2006 5:33 PM

Nay, far too tacky with the weave, color, heel combo, ew.

Posted by: iheartpink | March 30, 2006 7:11 PM

Nay.

Cheap. And not even in a potentially cheap-chic way.

Posted by: Fionna | March 31, 2006 12:42 AM

I LOVE them, AND I think JS has great taste in shoes (although I can't fully support some of the styles from her footwear line), so maybe that's why I like them. haha.

Posted by: Julie | March 31, 2006 9:32 PM

nay, nay, NAY! Those are horrendous and remind me of something Jamie Pressley's character would be wearing in What About Earl. Probably go over big at a Nascar rally, but that's not really my look.

Posted by: bloomie | April 1, 2006 12:37 AM

Yay, which doesn't seem too popular a thing to say this week. However, I like them. I like chunky. I'd definately wear them with jeans.

Posted by: Cherry | April 3, 2006 3:51 PM

NAY. No Wicker or basketweave on shoes for me.

Posted by: Antoinette | April 3, 2006 6:22 PM

NAY! THEY ARE KINDA CUTE BUT THEY LOOK LIKE THEY HURT

Posted by: ZAKIYA | April 5, 2006 5:09 AM

Yay. OK, they're not amazing, but there's nothing wrong with them. I'm supprised how many people don't like them!
With the right outfit, they could look good, although there is a risk and if teamed with the wrong stuff, they could look awful.
But Yay, they're nice :) .

Posted by: Caroline | April 13, 2006 5:12 PM

These wicker sandals don't do anything to attract me, same with the wickery ones in Stella McCartney's collection sold through net-a-porter.com. Both seem over-rated. Then again, it could be just that I think SMcC's stuff is grossly over-rated anyway.
