Yellow: Yay or Nay?

YaynayyelLast week's bridal Yay or Nay special was an interesting one. There was me thinking you'd all love the bow-backed big day shoes, but a surprising majority gave them a nay. Good thing they were only £65 bargain from Faith then, isn't it? Moving on to this week's shoe, and I want to know your thoughts on yellow, which CQ reports to be one of the spring colours. Yay or Nay to the least wearable colour ever? I'm not even going to try and keep the designer a secret this week since I'm sure half of you have already spotted the tell-tale label. These are Jimmy Choos, of course.

Yellow as a hot summer color? YAY! Yellow leather on my feet? NAY. I think the shape of these sandals is fantastic. The ankle strap looks like it would highlight one's legs in a sexy, yet not over-the-top way. However, I absolutely hate yellow shoes. I had a pair once. Once was enough to realize that yellow leather gave my legs a very unattractive green cast unless I was very deeply tanned. Since I don't tan, I'd go for them in the other two colors that are available.

Nay, yellow is not my color and these look very uncomfortable.

Posted by: Mindy | March 15, 2006 5:13 PM

Yay! With all the nautical trends and white being such a big color, why not spruce it up with a fantastic yellow shoe? I think they are brilliant and if you are going to wear such a bright color, this is certainly the way to do it!

Posted by: Corts | March 15, 2006 5:54 PM

Nay. I like the color, but the embellishment all over the thing is too much. And that heel would kill me.

Posted by: Melanie | March 15, 2006 7:04 PM

YAY!

love it all! the ankle strap, the studs and colour of course.

a seriously kul shoe

These look so nice, granted it would be impossible to walk/stand for more than a few moments, but who hasn't sacrificed comfort for a pair of shoes!?

YAY!

YAY! normally yellow is a touchy subject, but this shade and design totally fit. Summers newest trend here I come!

Posted by: Kimberly | March 15, 2006 8:26 PM

NAY. Yellow and orange always seem like interesting, original colors for footwear (Orange! The New Neutral! Remember???) until you try to actually wear them, and then you look like poultry.

Posted by: rose | March 15, 2006 9:56 PM

I'm sorry but it's a clear NAY for me! I think the embellishment is over the top and makes them look cheap... Plus I agree with Rose yellow seems like an interesting idea, but it's very dificult to wear.

Posted by: Daphne | March 15, 2006 10:20 PM

YAY but not on my legs...maybe on someone with darker skin - I could see them on Beyonce........

Posted by: Deb | March 15, 2006 10:29 PM

Yay! So cute!! So bright and springy. Better than lime green!

Posted by: Mandy | March 15, 2006 11:06 PM

As usual with pretty shoes, they are fitted with the most perilous heels, which renders them unwearable for most of the population, and even the 5% who can actually pull it off can do so for only 5 minutes at a time and usually in exchange for excruciating pain. The pleasure of seeing such shoes on women's feet would be anulled for me by those women's pain. So, nay.

Yellow ballet flats, yay. These? Nay. Hooker extraordinaire!

Posted by: Heidi | March 16, 2006 2:18 AM

NAY to the shoes, YAY to the color!

Posted by: Ashley | March 16, 2006 2:30 AM

Nay... three words: high class hooker

Posted by: ishouldnobetter | March 16, 2006 3:38 AM

Nay. Choo or not, they say "cheap" to me. And I'm talking about the wearer, not the shoe.

Posted by: Babs | March 16, 2006 4:09 AM

La la love it.

Heel's a little too short for my tastes though.

Yay, of course! I love yellow shoes, I have two pairs myself. They're just perfect with jeans!

Posted by: thursday | March 16, 2006 9:30 AM

Nay.

They look cheap and tacky and are very 2001-2003, the style is extremely outdated.

But to be honest with you, the fact that they are Jimmy Choos i think will ever so slightly sway people. almost swayed me but i had to stick to my guns!

Posted by: tordiva | March 16, 2006 12:27 PM

Nay for me. I like the idea of yellow and the strappy design, but I do not like the mirror-like details. I think that they look cheap, despite the fact that Choo's are far from it!

Posted by: iheartpink | March 16, 2006 3:36 PM

for once, a YAY! i love bright colors and find them incredibly EASY to wear! these would go great with jeans & a vibrant summery top.

p.s. jimmy who? i loved these before i knew that they were jimmy choo, and now i'm sad since i can't afford jimmy choo. :-(

Posted by: amie | March 16, 2006 4:49 PM

Nay, I actually like the yellow, it's one of my favourite colours, but the studs are too much and there'd be too much foot exposed for my liking.

Posted by: Anna | March 16, 2006 6:12 PM

Nay. Did they invent a BeDazzler for shoes now or what? I that sickly shade of yellow... ickickick!

Posted by: Madi | March 17, 2006 1:22 AM

Nay... I'm liking the yellow for spring but the gold studs are just cheesy.

Posted by: Tina | March 17, 2006 6:18 AM

YAY! Come on now! These shoes, when paired with black trousers and a subtle yellow top (or a top with yellow hints) would be great. Or could even add a little flare to a plain suit. I personally love a little color in my shoes--it brightens up an otherwise dull outfit.

Posted by: Hannah | March 17, 2006 3:30 PM

NAY!! Ugly and tacky....and yellow, yucky!

Posted by: Cherry | March 17, 2006 4:37 PM

I'm all about colourful shoes, so into the yellowness of this item, but must agree with the many on the hooker nature of the shoe itself. Seriously, I guess only footballers' wives or other such nouveaux riches would dare something so boldly tacky while spending so much money. So, a big Nay to the shoe, sorry Jimmy.

Posted by: Marta | March 17, 2006 4:38 PM

YAY! Yellow is great.

Posted by: hannna | March 17, 2006 10:00 PM

A resounding Nay.

Yellow could possibly be wearable, but not in this form - cheap and tacky.

Posted by: Fionna | March 18, 2006 7:33 PM

Yay! Yellow is good with black. You've got to think of the whole look before you enter into yellowshoedom. Unfortunately, most people will not do this, and will probably end up going for the aforemetioned hooker look.

Posted by: Arnez | March 19, 2006 6:04 PM

YAY! they may look slightly hookerish but if you wear them right like Arnez said they would look hot!As long as you don't wear them in a micro-mini, dripping with fake gold they'd look great.

Posted by: hana.x. | March 24, 2006 9:31 AM

Nay.
They aren't that bad, I had to think whether or not it was a Yay or Nay, but they look so cheap. I'm not hugely into yellow anyway, and it just doesn't look right. They look too tacky.
But I love the shape.

Posted by: Caroline | April 13, 2006 5:15 PM

I think this is a NAY. I have tanned skin and I still can't see myself wearing these. They must cost a lot since they are Choos... and then the question arises - would they really be worth it if I stood in them only for five minutes and cursed what they did to my feet for the next three days? Besides, all those studs are an ugly shape.

Posted by: Peri | November 22, 2006 1:07 PM

Yay! Yellow gives a flash of sunshine to otherwise boring outfits!
