Jelly Belly

Jellies I know in the past Ms Shoewawa has expressed her passionate dislike for jelly shoes (they have in fact appeared on ugly shoe of the week on numerous occasions). And to be fair I cannot blame her for this opinion, for jelly shoes emcompass everything sweaty, rubbery and sticky! However, I kind of like them (shock, horror!). If, like me, you get a little freaked out by what may be lying in wait in seawater you can't see through – perhaps sharp pebbles, jellyfish or even slimy seaweed – then jellies perfect solution. These are £20 for a pack of two at Freemans - is that a bargain or what?! You could even throw them away once you return from holiday; long before your friends even spot you had them! I fear, my dear Ms. Shoewawa, that you have officically gone bonkers! I remember those tacky jelly shoes of my youth. I also remember having sweaty, dirty feet because of them.

And if the water isn't clean enough to see the bottom, then there is no way I'm going swim in it. Isn't that what swimming pools were created for?

Peggy, I take no responsibility for this post and I remain a jelly hater. This is all Rachel's doing!

I remember wearing those when I was like 5 years old! I had a few pairs actually! Green, blue with sparkles, and bright neon pink!

I wouldn't be caught dead wearing them now, not to mention how uncomfortable they are!

only good for going into unknown waters, but take them off quickly once back on shore.

Oh my goodness!! I had hoped I would never see those shoes again.

Yes indeed, I have a pair identical to those in lemon yellow which cost me all of £2 in Primark last summer. And yes, I wear them. In the city.

I am far, far too shocked that jellies have returned to manage to have an actual opinion on their relative fashion-worthiness!

I liked them as a kid and I still like them as an adult. My feet find them comfortable and I find them kinda fun to wear.

It had never occurred to me that jelly shoes could induce such passionate debate. I saw some today on a grown woman and many happy childhood memories came rushing back - along with the desire to find some for myself. I think they're fun and it's smart marketing to capitalize on people's association to their (presumably happy) childhood.
