Yay or Nay Wednesday

YnamqLast week's vote didn't surprise me at all. 39 votes...and only 7 yays. Just in case you're one of the seven and fancy getting yourself a pair, they were by Diesel, and available for £77 at Littlewoods. This week I've found an interesting pair of sparkly gold mules with dark wood heels and platform soles. Do you love the clashing textures, or are they mis-matched fuglies? Yay or Nay and why?

Don't forget it's yay or nay all over the shiny network today, so go and cast your votes at BridalwaveCQ, Trashionista and The Bag Lady too.

nah - look like cheap-slut shoes!

Posted by: sophie rose | May 3, 2006 4:05 PM

Nay ~ too high & too trashy!

Posted by: dmd | May 3, 2006 4:33 PM

Nay - fugly alert! I like the gold top but the heels an sole are just awful - they look bow legged.

Posted by: Camilla C | May 3, 2006 4:48 PM

nay looks like something jessica simpson would wear

Posted by: tasha | May 3, 2006 4:48 PM

Nay. They need some kind of strap to keep them on the feet. Otherwise cute in a very trashy way.

Posted by: Mindy | May 3, 2006 4:49 PM

At first glance, I thought yay...but upon closer inspection, I have to say NAY. The gold bit is quite nice, but the heavy heel combined with the very light straps isn't doing it for me. The heel also looks quite dated like the old Charles Jourdan heel that was stolen from Roger Vivier.

Oh Hell Nooo !!!!! hihi to ugly for my taste

Posted by: nicola | May 3, 2006 5:09 PM

Nay. The texture contrast alone I could deal with (like say if the soles were a smooth ebony and the straps a matte or very shiny silver), but the texture AND color contrasts plus the over-the-top shape make it a big fat Not On My Feet.

YAY! I love 'em.

Posted by: Mary Jo | May 3, 2006 5:33 PM

if only the soles were lucite, these could be stripper shoes! also the heel is gross-looking. nay...

these look like the shoes Sarah Jessica Parker wore earlier this week in black - the ones she's been made fun of for wearing.

Posted by: anna | May 3, 2006 5:44 PM

Nay. The heavy heel and the sole just don't work with the gold straps. I like the straps, they're cute, but as a whole, it looks a bit too trashy for my liking.

Posted by: Caroline | May 3, 2006 7:50 PM

Nay. It looks like something that you see on strippers.

Posted by: Jessica | May 3, 2006 8:11 PM

A definite yay. I don't see why everyone thinks they're stripper shoes, I could see them looking very nice with a sundress with shades of brown. I like them :)

Posted by: Twyla | May 3, 2006 8:13 PM

I say yay, although I might not wear them as I would probably topple over, but they could look good on someone else who likes sky high shoes. I like the platform and the heel, and the wood and gold add to the fabulous-yet-almost-too-tacky vibe.

Posted by: iheartpink | May 3, 2006 8:24 PM

NNNNNAYY! Yeah, they look cheap and slutty...like something a prostitute would wear

Posted by: Anna S. | May 3, 2006 9:09 PM

NAY, they remind me of those clear shoes pole dancers wear!

Posted by: Kirsty | May 3, 2006 9:36 PM

with a few subtle changes these could be quite nice, but they look quite cheap as they are... NAY!

Posted by: tracey | May 3, 2006 9:59 PM

NAY! Really funny looking and probably impossible to walk in!

Posted by: Sarah-Jean | May 3, 2006 10:09 PM

Yay! I can never resist a really high heel. I think the colours go well together and the strappy bits are lovely! I'd wear with jeans, a top with a bit of gold on, and fabulous GIANT shades!

Posted by: Arnez | May 3, 2006 10:18 PM

Yay, in theory. I could never walk in these so I wouldn't buy them. But I disagree that they look like stripper shoes--the contrasting textures keep them from that, I think.

Posted by: Katie | May 4, 2006 1:12 AM

I suppose yay. At first glance they look like cheap metallic shoes girls buy solely to wear to a homecoming dance, but the nice detail matched with the wood is pretty cute. It could be tacky, though...

Posted by: Courtney | May 4, 2006 3:46 AM

Definitely Nay. The current crop of high heeled platform soles sometimes come out on the wrong side of hooker, and this shoe is a prime example.

Posted by: Tycoon No. 9 | May 4, 2006 9:42 AM

Nay - cheap looking and tacky - wear them at a theme party

Posted by: Deb | May 4, 2006 1:15 PM

Hate 'em! The heel and the platform look completely awkward with all the strange curving. absolutely nay!

Posted by: Carlene | May 4, 2006 2:38 PM

Nay! The heel is really ugly.

Posted by: Fionna | May 4, 2006 3:39 PM

Nay, unless you're Pam Anderson.

Posted by: rose | May 4, 2006 6:47 PM

yucky yuck yuck. nay.

Posted by: Claire | May 4, 2006 7:50 PM

A hooked heel for a hooker!

Posted by: Anna S. | May 4, 2006 8:47 PM

Nay - the combination of the heels and those rocking soles spell a walking disaster to me!

Posted by: Jenni | May 5, 2006 2:06 PM

I think they're interesting. The curved shape of the heel is different and the curve of the sole is also attractive in a voluptuous sort of a way. Plus, I like gold. Yay.

Posted by: bollo | May 5, 2006 2:49 PM

A mild yay for me. A little too strappy for my taste but all in all, not too bad. Yeah, maybe a little bit slutty but I'd buy 'em.

Posted by: Cherry | May 5, 2006 7:25 PM

And the horse goes "naaAAaaaaayyy"

Posted by: Kiki | May 5, 2006 9:04 PM

I am like Cherry. I would not wear them a lot, but they are so different. I love esoteric shoes.

Speaking of stripper shoes... You know those 6" heel 4" platforms? Back in the 90s they were real popular for 2-3 years. They were even in Vogue magazine. I bought about 10 pair and had no idea strippers wore them because beiing a woman, never went to a strippers club.

Posted by: Renee | May 5, 2006 9:32 PM

urrrgh. Gold, backless, ridiculously high and with redeeming features at all? NAY.
