Yay or Nay Wednesday

GzanfallLast week's Yay or Nay proved a very good point; shoes don't have to be pricey to be nice. The red peep toes with bows only got 7 nays out of 41 votes, and surprisingly, the shoes are from Barratts and only cost £40. Form an orderly queue, ladies! This week we're going over to the other side of the scale. These babies are from Giuseppe Zanotti's fall range...and I was drawn to them for obvious reasons. I thought your responses would make for interesting reading! Yay or Nay and why?

[It's Yay or Nay across the Shiny blogs today, so don't forget to vote at Trashionista Bridalwave, Catwalk Queen and The Bag Lady too]

YAY! I actually like them even though they are a bit weird...

Posted by: Sarah-Jean | June 14, 2006 3:56 PM

YAY! I love weird shoes!!!!!!

Posted by: Renee | June 14, 2006 4:10 PM

Had to think about this one. Yay, because leopard print is my favourite. Not really hot on the patent, but can forgive this as the shape of the shoe is nice. I also love wedges!

Posted by: Arnez | June 14, 2006 4:12 PM

YEAH THEY ARE WEIRD...... BUT GOOD WEIRD - YAY.

Posted by: ANNA HAYMAN | June 14, 2006 4:13 PM

Okay I hate to be the first voice of reason, but NAY!!! As soon as the page loaded and I saw these I audibly groaned. There is absolutely nothing about them that I like.

Posted by: Jenni | June 14, 2006 4:20 PM

I really dislike wedges, I don't like black patent leather and I wish the need for wearing animals/faux animals would pass. To make a short story long, NAY!

Posted by: Mindy | June 14, 2006 4:42 PM

Nay Nay Nay!!!

Posted by: Helly | June 14, 2006 4:53 PM

Nay. Only Gwen Stfani could work these, and then it would be VERY tough. Patent leather AND leopardskin together? Also, the shape of the shoe doesn't do it any favours.

Posted by: Paula | June 14, 2006 4:55 PM

NAY. That heavy strap and buckle kills the shoe. And patent and pony? Is this the '80's again? I could think of hundreds of other combinations (along with a more delicate strap) that would be more appealing.

Posted by: Shuzluva | June 14, 2006 5:19 PM

Nay. I've never been into shiny shoes. Plus the leopard-skin heel is turning me off. And of course, they look uncomfortable as heck!

Posted by: Melanie | June 14, 2006 5:21 PM

Not usually my sort of thing, but Yay. I think they'd look great with a power suit or something as a way to glam up your boring old work wear, or with a plain outfit to add a bit of excitement!

Posted by: Lucy | June 14, 2006 5:35 PM

Nay nay nay - they look V uncomfortable - tacky!

Posted by: Deb | June 14, 2006 5:41 PM

Definate nay, sorry :( They're unusual, but not in a way you could work into a street look.

Posted by: Andie | June 14, 2006 5:45 PM

Nay!! Patent- EEUUGH! Leopard print =BLAAAAH!

Leopard print AND patent= *is sick everywhere*

If anyone buys theese, they will look back at them in the winter and laugh. Alot

Posted by: Jenni | June 14, 2006 5:50 PM

egads! NAY! That heel is horrid and they look so uncomfortable.

Posted by: Camilla C | June 14, 2006 7:01 PM

Nay for the love of god NAY

Posted by: tiffany | June 14, 2006 7:28 PM

How high are these? Unless the photo is of the size 4 pair, the heel looks about 5" high. Fetish shoes serve a purpose, I suppose, but for Guiseppe Zanotti money....

NAY

Posted by: rose | June 14, 2006 8:40 PM

NAY!

BUT, i am a new reader to this blog, and I have to say I am really enjoying it! you guys have a GREAT selection of affordable nice looking shoes in the UK. sooo jealous!

Posted by: princess sarah | June 14, 2006 9:03 PM

My first impression was a total YAY! I love patent leather mary janes.

But once I looked at them for a minute, I realized that they really are more of a NAY. The leopard wedge heel looks odd, like it doesn't belong there.

The shoe has potential, but not in its current incarnation. Overall, a NAY.

Posted by: Peggy | June 14, 2006 9:21 PM

Yay! I adore anything leopord print at the moment. These shoes are so weird they just have to be a yay for that alone.

Posted by: Caroline | June 14, 2006 9:58 PM

I usually love anything with a buckle, but these are atrocious! Obviously Stripper shoes. Even if they are worn on the street, well, then they'd be a street walker's leopard-ed wedge. NAY!

Posted by: Heidi | June 14, 2006 11:06 PM

nay - quite tacky

Posted by: aja | June 15, 2006 12:04 AM

1,000x NAY!

Posted by: amie | June 15, 2006 12:53 AM

nay, uncomfortable, too high,it seems the animal prints are for eternity.

Posted by: lilimj | June 15, 2006 5:44 AM

YAY! I love them! But I also feel slightly sick to my stomach at the same time. I'm guessing in six months they will be "what was i thinking" shoes.

Posted by: Claire | June 15, 2006 7:01 AM

NAY!!

Posted by: Suneet | June 15, 2006 7:15 AM

Nay. I don't mind the patent leather, but the print on the wedge... it's just so trashy looking.

Posted by: Cait | June 15, 2006 8:54 AM

Nay. Love the shoe, but that heel is yuck!

Posted by: Elizabeth | June 15, 2006 10:00 AM

NAY NAY NAY!
Tacky patent leather mixed with cheap looking buckle and ugly leopard print. What was they thinking???

One word, NAY!

Posted by: Kelly | June 15, 2006 10:51 AM

Nay, I like all of the elements separately, but together it is just overkill. I like leopard-print and wedges in general, and I would love them if they were just black patent mary-jane heels, but these are just too much (especially with the odd shape of the wedge/heel part).

Posted by: iheartpink | June 15, 2006 6:51 PM

I love them.....a big huge YAY !!

Posted by: andrea | June 15, 2006 10:02 PM

Nay! God, I'm flashing back to Clueless. Amber in Clueless.

Posted by: Elinor | June 15, 2006 10:53 PM

I was immediately horrified at the sight of these shoes. NAY!

Posted by: Andrea | June 16, 2006 8:45 PM

Ok, on the surface they are a nay, HOWEVER, I know a girl who'd make these work. SHe's a model-physiqued member of a damn fine rock band, and the way she'd wear these would be so good...

So, I have to yay them, I'm afraid. Just because she NEEDS to wear them.

Posted by: Caitlin | June 16, 2006 10:12 PM

I like wedges. I usually like anything leopard print, but I hate these shoes. They're waaaay to weird. NAY!!!

Posted by: Cherry | June 17, 2006 5:24 AM

NAY.
they're hideous... how can one not see there utter ugliness?
this is a no-brainer... nay nay and triple nay. yuk.

Posted by: little sonfica | June 17, 2006 2:12 PM

NAY!!! I love wedges but HATE animal print and these shoes give me an excuse to hate it even more.

Posted by: ileana | June 18, 2006 4:31 AM

Nay. Lepoard spots? Ick!

Charlene

Posted by: Charlene | June 18, 2006 1:24 PM

NAY - why?

Patent leather
+Leopard skin
+Mary Jane look
+Wedges
---------------
= Yuck

Posted by: Peri | June 19, 2006 10:38 AM

Nay, not b/c they are gonna hurt, when has that ever stopped me from wearing a manolo? but, I can't figure out what this shoe wants to be, wild animal, or shiney mary jane goodness? plus, they remind me of the mary janes I stepped in dog poop with when I was a little girl and my mom threw them out instead of cleaning off the poop b/c, they were my good shoes and I was out playing in them with my friend Jackie. How's that? shoe whore at 3!

Posted by: marmot | June 20, 2006 12:08 AM

NAY!! - copuld have potential IF the leopard print wasn't there, the heal could be black making it more of an office shoe if the heal was reduce. unsure of the buckle though - sort of cute with it but maybe nicer either thinner strap and buckle or no strap and buckle.
