Yay or Nay Wednesday

MattsnakeclogsClogs... I never really understood the interest in this particular style. I realise it's a shoe steeped in cultural history with the people of the Netherlands and Sweden but even when they had a comeback a few years ago on the western front I could never bring myself to give them a go. This week, these Devi Kroell clogs, made from matt snake, are on the Shoewawa chopping block. Are they are hit or a miss? Yay or Nay and why?

[It's Yay or Nay across the Shiny blogs today, so don't forget to vote at Trashionista, Bridalwave, Catwalk Queen and The Bag Lady too!]

Naaaaaaaaaaaay!

Posted by: Camilla C | June 21, 2006 5:36 PM

NAY - DEFINITE NAY

Why? They are ugly. Ugly colour. Ugly Style

Posted by: Princess Sarah | June 21, 2006 5:58 PM

Nay. First and foremost, these are just ugly. Second, I have owned clogs before in my lifetime (the naivete of youth) and I could never get them to stay on my feet.

By the way, I was just curious if you read everyone's comments or if you just glance at each post for the "yay" or "nay". Thanks for the fun site.

Nay. Can't envisage any kind of outfit that these would compliment. Bit scared of clogs, 'cos my dad used to wear them instead of slippers. Don't like the heel shape nor the strappy bit on them. Colour's ok though.

Despite the fact that I'm Dutch and love clogs, these one's are a nay for me. The shape is fine, but the color and the silver spikes are just ugly. I usually wear my clogs when I don't feel like wearing my sneakers, for instance under an a-line skirt. It looks great - on the streets of Amsterdam that is;-)

OhMYGOODLORD. NO!

Posted by: ericajane | June 21, 2006 6:26 PM

NAY! I like clogs for the garden or running out to the car, but I don't like THOSE clogs because they are UGLY!

Posted by: Sarah-Jean | June 21, 2006 6:30 PM

Nay. They are just awful. The only pair of clogs I've ever loved were from Tod's about three summers ago. They were just gorgeous.

I should've bought them when I had the chance, because I've never seen the like again.

Yay - If you are picking tullips in Holland. Otherwise NAY NAY NAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: ileana | June 21, 2006 6:41 PM

Nay! HELL NAY!

Posted by: Ada | June 21, 2006 7:23 PM

nay. i never understood the whole clog thing either.

Posted by: aja | June 21, 2006 7:27 PM

I like 'em. I don't understand the dislike for clogs. I guess I'm in the minority, but YAY!

Posted by: Cherry | June 21, 2006 7:30 PM

Nay - I wear pink birkie ones for gardening and camping but these ones - yuk - and they give you a nasty clunk on the heel as well - I remember wearing them in the 70's and hobbling in pain

Posted by: Deb | June 21, 2006 7:33 PM

A big nay from me. I really dislike clogs in general and this green snake material is just gross.

Posted by: iheartpink | June 21, 2006 8:28 PM

Nay. Hate the oversized studs and the whole look is just clunky. I like my shoes a little sexier.

Posted by: J | June 21, 2006 9:26 PM

Nay, I don't get the whole clog thing either, and these are just plain ugly!

Posted by: Jenni | June 21, 2006 11:30 PM

NAY!! Definately not. Who wants to stuffed their pedicured feet into something resembling a bloated, decomposing snake? Eww.

Posted by: mvo | June 22, 2006 4:11 AM

NAY.. ALL THINGS CLOG JUST CONJURE UP CROCS NOW, UGGGH.

Posted by: ANNA HAYMAN | June 22, 2006 8:05 AM

They are probably the most flattering shape and style I have ever seen for clogs, The green/black has to go, it ruins the whole clog. Even the name Clog, does not conjure up a good picture. Nay

Posted by: lilimj | June 22, 2006 9:25 AM

Oh my god, these should have been drowned at birth. Nay.

Posted by: Penny | June 22, 2006 12:05 PM

Nay, nay, nay! I don't hate clogs - I've seen some people pull them off very well with jeans - but these are just ugly.

Posted by: Fionna | June 22, 2006 1:01 PM

Oh for goodness sakes!! NAY! NAY! Why do shoes just get uglier as time passes?

Posted by: Suneet | June 22, 2006 1:19 PM

nay. these are truly one of the ugliest pairs of shoes i have ever seen.

Posted by: tannis | June 22, 2006 2:05 PM

Not only nay, but HELL NAY!

Posted by: jr | June 22, 2006 4:43 PM

Nay! The color is nearly universally unflattering, the material is unattractive, the black trim just makes me shake my head, and the tacks are outsized.

I love clogs, but not these!

Posted by: Style Graduate | June 22, 2006 4:59 PM

NAY.

Are you just f*****g with us?

Posted by: rose | June 23, 2006 12:28 AM

No freaking way. ew.

Posted by: megu-chan | June 23, 2006 4:56 PM

Nay! Chunky, dumpy shoes for women who just don't care anymore. Clogs are NEVER good, least of all when they are covered in drawing-pin rivets. They look like cheap furniture - where have all the designers gone?!

Posted by: sminke | June 24, 2006 12:32 PM

nay, no redeeming qualities about these at all.

Posted by: Gemma | June 24, 2006 1:51 PM

Urk, nay! Clompy and unattractive.

Posted by: Elizabeth | June 24, 2006 5:14 PM

Nay. They're hideous.

Posted by: Nicolle | August 11, 2006 8:27 PM

I like clogs but not these so its a nay
