An Ugly Shoe Double Whammy!

Yohji_1 Apparently this is a shoe, a wedge to be more precise. I'm not even sure how it works (some kind of flip-flop / slide style affair?) but maybe that's a good thing. What occasion would be appropriate for such an item of foot paraphernalia anyway? From the side I think it's reminiscent of an old fashioned iron. If anyone can give me an insight into these £99 Yohji Yahamoto Adidas Wedges from Yoox.com I would be very grateful.

Its actually a padded curling stone, because stone hurts when they bash into your toes!

These are meant to elevate the feet above street dirt. As with all Japanese shoes, they are left at the door before entering the house. Also easy on and off. Makes sense to me. This shoe is the forerunner of the thong sandals created in 1962 by Havaiiana of Brazil. Havaiianas are made from a secret formula of native rubber and are far more comfortable than their look-alikes.
