Oh Deer's Louboutin Style Shoeboots

Ohdeerlouboutin
It's time for a game of spot the Louboutin! It's getting increasingly difficult now brands are latching onto the idea of a red sole. On the left are the Christian Louboutin shoeboots, so popular with 'slebs and fashionistas that the black is already hard to come by, and the taupe will set you back $645. Meanwhile Oh...Deer! have bought out their version of the shoe that'll have us all saying "I can't believe I wore that!" in six month's time for a slightly cheaper $140 at Intuition. Am I the only one who thinks they're a bit ugly?

Any one else noticed that George at ASDA are selling shoes with red soles at £12-18? I really wanted to get some of the black patent Mary janes but the 2 stores I have been in this last week have been totally out of 8s.

I just bought a really similar pair from Faith, almond toe, elastic sides, red sole, but with a very managable heel... http://www.faith.co.uk/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=855800&language=en-GB&cid=151

I recently found this seller on Ebay that has some marvelous platform Louboutin-likes. I purchased 2 pairs, that did cost me 30 dollars total. And I might as well ask myself in 6 months "oh Jeez where were my eyes", 'cause now I am wearing them, happy for them.

My Q is, why wear knockoffs of designers? There are enough shoes (and bags, etc) out there that noone should want for self-expression. Why seek validation from the world that you're worth something when YOU know you're wearing a fake? Isn't that self-defeating? Is the urge to be validated by strangers so strong that you'd trade in your self worth? Noone thinks less of you if you're wearing BCBG, rather than Louboutin, but they do if they spot a fake, wanting to look like a Louboutin -- it says alot about a person.

I just don't get it.

Fake bags and shoes are terrible. Fake ppl are even worse.

Well, for a start, you might wanna consider the fact that someone could actually LIKE the shoe model, but ain't stupid enough to pay $600 for them.
Wearing shoes is not searching for validation, we should not exagerate; it is a wonderful - let's call it that way - hobby for some of us.
And where does all this criticism "you-wanna-be-validated-by-strangers-so-no-self-esteem-at-all" come from? Neither one of these posts implicates low self-esteem, just love for shoes and in fact, also some intelligence, since paying $600 for a shoe model you like is quite stupid, knowing that they are season hits.
And for the end, the "fake bags terrible - fake people worse" thing is such a low philosophy. Because to call a person fake, you really need at least to know her.

So, let's not make a life philosophy out of shoes. They are just cute accessoires, not life rules.

Kudos Sandra!!! You totally hit it. I absolutely love Louboutins but DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY THEM...and even if I did, I'd be stupid to spent that much in something I wont wear for more than four months.

So why shouldn't I indulge in having a shoe I love for a fraction of the price?
That doesn't mean I'm fake, I't means I love shoes and that't it.

Exactly my point. Fashion ok, but not stupid, since not even milionaire.

Posted by: Sandra | October 11, 2006 8:45 PM

Actually, I wanna say something else. I have over 100 pairs of shoes; this might even sound sick to some people. About 90% of them are designer shoes; still, I always found them for much less than the pricetags state in the shops. It is not being cheap, fake, or poor: it is having some intelligence. If you can pay one thing 50% off, you should.
I also own some Louboutins. Bought on Ebay, absolutely faboulous and authentic. One of them is lime silk, paid about 100 euros. I would NEVER pay them their real price, 560 euros.
So, personally, I am not trying (since I do not need to) to look like I am wearing Louboutins. The real good looks come when a person can mix between some really expensive things and some cheap. That's called personality, not being a fake.

i agree with the poster about fakes. if you can't afford it, find something else, not knockoffs. buying a fake is not about liking the design, its about trying to look like you spent the dough and are part of 'the club'. fakes suck.

to sandra: buying designer duds at discount is great. yea good looks is about mixing designer and cheap, but that's different than mixing designer and designer wannabe.

Posted by: CC | October 12, 2006 2:00 AM

for instance if you like the louboutin platforms why not buy the gazillion other platforms out there this season? why buy one that is made to look like a louboutin shoe with a red sole? then its not about the platform, its about the red sole and wanting to look like you spent the dough.

I never mentioned red soles. I never bought shoes with a red sole to make other think that I'm wearing Louboutin. So I guess you just supposed that I wanted red soles so badly, that I had to have them.
As I said before: I actually LIKE the form of the Louboutin shoes. So it seems normal to me that I would find and buy something less crazy (in terms of money) that looks similar to the model I love.
It has nothing to do with red soles, as you CC would love to insinuate. It has to do with the MODEL of the shoe.
There is no "club", since most of us people lead a normal life. Personally, I don't give a damn about what people say about my shoes. If I want a designer (and even then, it is only because I actually LOVE the shoe, and not its name) I will buy one. If I want a shoe with no famous brand on it, I will buy it.
Again, you people try to implicate that we are just that, (and by we I mean the people that buy shoes similar to designer ones) wannabies. And after saying it out loud many times, I will repeat it once again: IT IS NOT THE NAME, THE RED SOLE, OR ANYTHING PSYCHOLOGICAL.These are only shoes, and we love the form of it, and don't want to waist our money.

sandra: english not your first language? look up "knock-off".

Posted by: CC | October 12, 2006 8:38 PM

Dear CC, as I mentioned I am writing from Italy, english is surely not my first language. It is only one of 7 that I speak.
Besides that, I know very well what knock-off means. Still, you just go on repeating this theory of yours, I am not going to waste more time trying to explain what seems obvious to me: there are actually people in the world that like the shape but are not idiots enough to make a designer richer than he already is.
So, enjoy your "wannabies" opinions and try searching in a dictionary "compromise". Then perhaps you will learn why people who enjoy the shape of an object find a way to pay it less.

Now now, ladies. Retract those claws.

I quite like them

Personally, I buy designer shoes because I am a firm believer in "You get what you pay for." when it comes to quality. I also seem to take much better care of the shoes a spend a small fortune on. However, because I do spend so much on my shoes, (although I do sometimes get them on sale) I usually make sure to buy something in a classic style rather than trendy. I would hate to spend $2000.00 on a pair of boots that would only be in style for 1 season. Since Im assuming that we all make our own money, it is up to each of us how we choose to spend it.
Just another view on designer vs. knockoff.

How can people get so riled up about whether or not one coughs up the dough for a pair of genuine Louby's or picks up a designer-inspired pair on the high street. It's surely a personal choice and I don't think Mr. Louboutin will go hungry without my hard earned cash to line his pocket.

I'd much rather have the real mccoy from a discounted outlet like eBay than pay the full whack or go for a knock off in a style I like. What I wouldn't do is pay for a designer item that I knew to be a fake. What's the point in that? The high street items don't pretend to be the real thing and if there was nothing there to take my fancy, there are plenty of fresh young designers out there to discover that don't charge an arm and a leg for a signature sole or flash logo.
