Steve Madden's Brown 'Hostess' Pumps

Hostess I've been noticing a lot of button detailing on shoes lately, with Mr. Madden himself being one of the chief culprits. Not that I'm complaining: this would be a plain (but elegant, natch) pump on its own, but that extra little touch turns it into... well, a plain but elegant court with a button on the front. See! It makes all the difference. These are $179.95, but treat 'em right and they're the kind of shoes you'll be wearing for years - or a few seasons at least. And, needless to say, they're just as cute as a button. Groan.

I'm kind of shocked no one has mentioned how Mr. Madden has gone nuts with his prices.
I was looking at some boots that are $250! I mean, it's still Steve Madden! And while I love his cheapER knockoffs, they are still (mostly) knockoffs.
It makes my wallet sad.

I like the colour, but i don't like the front of the shoe. It looks as if someone ruined it! Kinda Donald Duck...

The sad part is, they aren't knockoffs, they're the same thing. There are factories in China that make the same shoes for several different companies. The companies (Steve Madden, Target, Payless, etc.) simply put their name on them and sell them for profit. I've seen shoes by "Steve Madden" and the exact same shoe at Target or Payless. Not all of these companies shoes are made this way, but some are. Remember those awful "sweater" clogs by Steve Madden? I also saw the same shoes selling at JCPenney and Payless all with their own company names.
