Topshop's Platform Riding Boots

Topshop_14 Pity the poor pony whose rider turns up for their lesson in these, eh? Of course, these boots are strictly "fashion-not-function" numbers, so I would imagine the horses of the world can sleep safe in their stables tonight. As for the boot-wearers, well, that's a pretty chunky platform sole there, but this still looks like a very wearable boot, with the high heel adding a feminine touch to what can be a very masculine style. At £150 (and that's the sale price!) these aren't the cheapest boots in the Topshop range, especially when you consider that they're not even leather, but now that the Autumn chill has finally started to kick in, I'm liking their style.

Okay, somebody tell me what the heck is going on with the new fad of otherwise well-dressed people everywhere wearing black and brown together? I've seen several pairs of shoes this season with the combination and have seen "stylish" gay men (!!!) and women alike making this HUGE fashion faux pas. What? When did this become okay? I'm not okay with it.

I love Topshop, On my list of must sees in London next year. The styles are awesome and the prices are un- beilievable. You Lasses on the other side of the pond are so lucky!

I definitely agree with you about black and brown, JR, but black and tan can look good, I think. I think these are trying to look like traditional riding boots, which always used to have a brown/tan bit at the top. They do look more brown than tan to me, but for some reason I still like them!

La Redoute have similar boots, but without the platform sole.
Price is €165 and they are leather.

I think AMBER has found a pretty cool boot there. My ex would have worn those for hacks for sure unless she thought it might spoil them for going out wear. As for poor pony, well, yes, but it just goes to prove they are beasts of burden, right? Would certaonly make your pony stand up straight and pay attention, so they just might be ideal.
