Ugly Shoe Of The Week

Uglyvs_1Firstly, don't blame me for your temporary blindness. It was shiny fashion forumite Daphne who spotted these monstrosities from Victoria's Secret, and for obvious reasons I couldn't resist putting them on here. Now, we all know gold sequins are very 'now' (thanks to Burberry and Sienna Miller) but that's no excuse for bringing these things into the world. I'm barely speechless about footwear, but no amount of silly drag queen / fancy dress related puns will ever do these justice, so I'll just let you lot comment instead. Go on, do your worst...

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHMIIGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

If I ever decide to go on some carnival dressed as a drag queen I will definitely buy these. Or should I give them to one of Milan's trans hookers?!
There are no legs and no outfits that can look good in that kind of ....er, shoe.

You can get away with shoes like that if you're a member of Kiss. Possibly. So that means there are four people in the world who might make these work. Only four.

I want to know who gave these the "Okay"!? And even moreso, how can anyone think that these would be marketable? Maybe Victoria's Secret wanted to press their luck for Halloween costume purchases.

Maybe if someone wanted to be wonderwoman... I don't know, I like a gold shoe (like? LOVE) but this is more than slightly overkill. I'm not saying that I wouldn't want to try them on if I saw them at VS, though... But it's not at all practical, and I'd never buy it.

I so need these.

For Halloween.

I hate to say it (I mean REALLY hate to say it) but they'd be sort of workable if they were black suede.

However....

They're frickin gold sequins! I can imagine a drag queen walking past these in a storefront and murmuring "Oh no honey, don't. Those are just tacky!"

Who stole Goldie Hawn's Go-Go Boots fron the 60's TV show Laugh-In?

Posted by: Happy | October 26, 2006 8:17 PM

*giggles* *falls over* They are quite something! remind to of that gold robot in star wars.

These are fabulous costume garb. Halloween, costume parties, drag, etc.

I see these as having absolutely zero real life use, though.

Do you think I can sue for loss of sight and speech just by looking at these shoes?

Posted by: TuttiTut | October 27, 2006 12:16 AM

The buyer for Victoria's Secret needs to be fired.

Posted by: Ada | October 27, 2006 6:06 AM

If you zoom the picture out reeeeeally really far, far enough to not know they're sequined, they look slightly tolerable. But real life doesn't zoom out. It just doesn't. And these boots are monstrosities without that (especially with the $129 price tag). :(

Posted by: Mirym K | October 27, 2006 6:08 AM

Oh, and also, they remind me of the really really bad 1970s movie "Girl in Gold Boots." That's never a good thing.

Posted by: Mirym K | October 27, 2006 6:10 AM

Oh My! Real tranny wear I'm afraid. Not sure whether they are suitable even for Halloween.

Posted by: Katy | October 27, 2006 8:04 AM

Well, it looks like I'm in the minority (all by myself!) but I think that these have the potential to be fabulous. I agree that the sequins are nasty, but if it was just a plain gold leather boot I would definitely wear these out to the disco...and I think I could pull them off without looking like a lady (or a ladyboy) of the night!

Posted by: afro girl | October 27, 2006 9:27 AM

Good lord! That's all I can say I think

Posted by: Elizabeth | October 27, 2006 11:22 AM

What if they were in black sequins? I really like their shape, but my God those sequins...

Posted by: arelya | October 27, 2006 12:22 PM

I can only think of one 'profession' in which these boots would be passible...and I am not talking about accounting!!

These are TOTAL F*@$ em, Suck em boots!! GDam!!

Now really Girls - We ALL know perfectly well that Victoria's Secret has been producing and selling Wretched shoes forever! It is apparent that some man designed these shoes for some weird fetish deal that he has going on. No woman in her right mind would ever design much less endose much WEAR these. Either that or it is some left over item from PlayBoy Shoe overstock...(yes ladies - PlayBoy has a shoe line)

This is what would happen if C3PO was a woman. O_@

Posted by: Stacy | November 20, 2006 8:28 AM

I think the only lady who will be buying these glittery little numbers is Wonder Woman...that probably isn't enough customer to turn a profit though...but hey, someone has to clothe the superheros right?
