Yay or Nay Wednesday

Yayornay2Last week's pirate-inspired wellies achieved a resounding 'Yay!', with around 80% of votes, suggesting that they'd be perfect for a romp on the high seas.  If they floated your boat, you can pick up the aptly named 'Stylish Rain Boots' for $58 from Shop Intuition, who also have a black-and-white pair for the same price, emblazoned with enough jolly rogers to sink a ship!

This week's Yay or Nay may be a little more controversial.  Our American friends have just celebrated Thanksgiving, so what could be more appropriate than to cast your vote on a pair of boots fit for any ol' pilgrim.  Are they a fabulous festive shoe, or a complete turkey? Yay or Nay and Why?

At first I didn't think these were that bad - nice soft looking leather with a flattering upper. But then I scrolled down and saw the foul bows coupled with the hideous granny-wedge! Why? NAY!

Nayyyyy. I love it from the ankle up, and I even like the tie and the stitching detail. The boxy toe and the wedge thoroughly and absolutely ruin it, though.

No no no no no no no no no no NAY NOOOOOOOOOOOO. These are horrific!!

I think they contain all the things I hate in a shoe (and I love my shoes so this is bad). Half way house wedge? NO! Pointy square toe? Choose one or the other for god's sake NO! Slouchy bow that will be out next year? NO! Rubbish boot design where it looks like the leg bit has just been attached (very obviously) onto the shoe? NO!

What do they want to be anyway? They aren't quite casual. They definately aren't smart. There is a hint of desperate up to dateness with the bow. They aren't cowboy boots despite the rim of the leg. Buy good shoes and you are a good person. Buy bad ones and you are fool.
