With a name like Jones the Bootmaker, you'd imagine some plain, austere, boot-like creations I suppose. However, we at Shoewawa dispelled that myth by highlighting these pretty offerings. It would seem the pretty continues into Spring, with these 'Crown' D'Orsay peep toes. They have a distinct vintagey feel, and would go with a cute '50s dress. Think of wholesome Sandra D from Grease (before the make over) all cinched-in waist, full skirts and petticoats. Don't worry if you're not a dress kinda gal - this emerald green and classic shape will go with anything. At £55, it would be rude not to.

If you are into the whole shoe/boot thing, and are lucky enough to be able to pull them off, how about trying out these 'Victoria' panelled ankle boots from Shellys. These boots were made-to-be-seen, and I don't think they would have the same effect if they were hiding under some trousers. They are a great take on spats and gangster chic, without all the crime and corruption or looking like you're going to a fancy dress party. At £75, the price is not quite daylight robbery, but they are not cheap either.

While last week's 'Bank Robber' lace-ups from Office were less controversial than other recent offerings, I fear that we're sending yet another pair of shoes to fashion jail! Some of you thought they'd "look best" paired with a zoot suit (cough) and others couldn't wait to wear them to work! In the end, though, they were deemed a crime against shoemanity, so it's off to that dark and dusty cupboard they go!
For a change, this week's offering is something a little more mainstream, although, with its mix of denim, leather, studs and embroidery, is it all a bit too much? It's up to you. Perfect princess or far too fuss-pot? Yay or Nay and why?

I've been to many a fashion show where models have been forced to fasten their shoes to their feet with elastic bands because of a lack of small sizes. It seems this look is now making its way into the real world, as there have been a fair few pairs of courts with elastic strapping hitting the shops recently. These ones are at the budget end of the scale, setting you back £20 a pair at Additions Direct. They're actually a really good idea if you do find that conventional courts or pumps slip off your feet...but does anyone else think the elastic just looks naff?

It's all well and good the shops starting to stock their Spring / Summer stock now the winter sales are coming to a close, but do they have to get the flip-flops in so early? I'm taking a stand, and stating that we will not be showing flip flops on this site in January. It just seems so wrong. We should be looking at boots, like these toasty looking tie-top numbers from Topshop. Yours for £95, and perfect for wearing until it's finally flip-flop time. Judging by the weather today, you may have a long wait!

It must be great being Tamara Mellon. When you can't find the shoe you want, you just say the word and it appears as part of the next Jimmy Choo collection. Luckily for us, she's a woman with impeccable taste that we can all benefit from. Choo shoes are always reliably classic and feminine, rather than pandering to awful trends that are best left to celebrities and people who pose around Shoreditch. 'Kathryn' is a new season style that many of us already have our beady eye on. It's £350 in black goat leather with a 3.5" heel.
There's no denying the pull of a designer shoe. They do tend to be more comfortable and better made than their high street alternatives, and there's something lovely about sliding your feet into a pair of indulgent, overpriced heels. But sometimes we can all go to too far. How many people are actually willing to spend £265 on a pair of ballet pumps, even if they are Lanvin? Is there really that much difference between these and a pair of French Sole or Repetto classics? I think not...
