Ugly Shoe of The Week

diorcw.jpg
Okay, so they may have been suitable as part of Christian's Dior's show at Haute Couture Paris S/S Week, but besides that and the film 'Memoirs of a Geisha' these high, wooden and undoubtedly painful platforms aren't very practical. Parading (or rather shuffling) around on the catwalk, models in the Dior show definitely earned their keep this week when they attempted stilt walking while avoiding falling down from the sheer weight of their dramatic costumes and extravagant headpieces. The traditional Japanese-style sandals appeared in a variety of colours and materials with rope straps, buckles and studs. As part of the overall show the shoes were an amazing work of art, anywhere else and they would probably make you a laughing stock. [Kim Foster]

Agreed. I'm happy to see a show, however, that didn't cater to the Oscar crowd.

I love your blog, since I am a shoe lover and blogger myself www.theshoegoddess.net , I have to slightly disagree with your comment on these Dior shoes.
First of all you know they will never be produced, they are just made for the runaway. You also know how much John Galliano love never abide by any fashion rule, everything is always unexpected with him,so are these shoes.
But beyond the ugliness of these shoes I see Galliano creativity, yes these shoes are ugly I give you that but in a such creative way.
I love your blog ,and I enjoy your sense of humor, you are so talented.
