If you are into the whole shoe/boot thing, and are lucky enough to be able to pull them off, how about trying out these 'Victoria' panelled ankle boots from Shellys. These boots were made-to-be-seen, and I don't think they would have the same effect if they were hiding under some trousers. They are a great take on spats and gangster chic, without all the crime and corruption or looking like you're going to a fancy dress party. At £75, the price is not quite daylight robbery, but they are not cheap either.
