Yay or Nay Wednesday

yaynay66.jpgWhile Mary Janes are a much-loved style of shoe, Shoewawa readers (and apparently, their cats!) are sensible enough to acknowledge when a designer goes too far. So it is, with exultation, that I send Chie Mihara's 'Mopa' to beauty school, in the hope that it will counter the effects of ye olde ugly stick.

This week's offering has been hotly debated over on the forums, so I thought it only fitting that they be put to the vote! Creatively named 'Bank Robber', are they a crime against shoemanity or do they get away with the loot? Yay or Nay and why?

I love them. These would be soooo good for the office with some nice black trousers and a blouse. It would defo jazz things up a bit.

Nay. If I put my hand over the entire back end of this shoe, it looks like it could be a nice leopard print boot. But then I remove my hand and -aaaarrrrgh - it turns into a mutated teacher's shoe with a really awful heel. Booooo!

Yay! I would wear these all the time to work, with trousers.

Nay, nay, nay!

Do these come with a zoot suit? Nay.

Hmm, yay, I think. I really like the shape, and normally I'm a big fan of leopard print... I'm not convinced on the combination.

The heel is awful and I don't like the snub nose. Nay.

Nay. Just...nay.

I see women in men's shirts, double breasted pants cut to skinny ankles, and mullet haircuts....

I think these shoes are a toss up, with the right outfit there is some hope. I wouldn't necessarily run out for a pair but on sale why not? Worn with a nice pair of pants or jeans, the shoe would not look as awkward and the snub nose of the shoe would be complimenting rather than fearing. As for my vote, the get a meagre yah on my part because there may just be some hope for these shoes semi-gone-wrong.
