Marc by Marc Jacobs' sequin rope wedges

MJespadrilles.jpgDear, oh dear. Marc Jacobs, what on earth were you thinking?! Your bags are the stuff of dreams. We even kinda liked your crazy head pieces. But these? They're just so clunky and junky looking...and for £200 at Net-A-Porter? You just love to taunt us, you big meanie! Don't you?

The Oscars liveblog at Catwalk Queen

amyadams2.jpgThe sofa has been plumped, the champagne lambrini is chilling in the fridge, we've got Domino's pizza on speed dial and our posh frock pajamas are ready to be donned. That's right, the second most important awards show of the week (after ours) is almost here...

On Sunday night the stars will be hitting the red carpet for the 79th Annual Academy Awards, and we'll be live blogging the whole thing at Catwalk Queen as we watch it on Sky Movies (while sane people get some sleep). We can't promise witty chat about the nominated movies or an in-depth film buff guide to who'll win what...but who cares about all that anyway? On Oscars night it's all about the frocks, and as Shiny's resident Joan Rivers, I'll be doing my best to bring you news of the fabulous and the fugly as tinseltown's finest arrive at the Kodak Theatre.

Last year's liveblog was a great success, and we're hoping this year will be even better. If you've missed any of the Catwalk Queen pre-Oscars build up, see our trend predictions and catwalk picks here.

Jessica Simpson's bright green peep toes

peagreen.jpgI think it was the colour that drew my eye to these shoes at first - well, let's face it, you couldn't exactly miss it, could you? While some might find that bright, pea green just a little bit too green, though, I think the combination of the green uppers and white heels is very fresh and spring-like, while the bow adds a nice, perky touch. They're also available in navy and scarlet, if you prefer to eat your greens, not wear them.

Yay or Nay.... Friday?

yaynay70.jpgThe '80s. A decade filled with synthetic clothing, big hair, electronic music and... apparently, awful shoes. With only two of you voting (are you all on holidays or something?!), it was an easy 'Nay', for those poor ol' elasticated boots by Lotus - especially for the blow-out price of £140!

This week's offering, on the other hand, is rather fluffy; and while Samantha of 'Sex and the City' fame declared this style to be 'fabulous', we're more interested in what you think! So are they fabulously fussy... or senselessly silly? Yay or Nay and why?

Patent button sandals from ASOS

coral.jpg Coral can be a rather inspid colour, but I think the cute style of these patent sandals makes up for it - and if you don't agree, then luckily they're also available in a deep purple. The two buttons keep them bang up to date, and the £25 price tag makes them nice and affordable, too. Delicate, strappy sandals like these will probably never go out of style - it's just a shame about the slightly dodgy colours.

'Carmella Flower'courts from Poste Mistress

pmcarmella.jpg If your wedding is within the next few months, hopefully all the big things have been organised and you're just tying up the loose ends. However, if you have just started planning or heaven forbid have left it all till the last minute, may I suggest these 'Carmella Flower' courts from Poste Mistress. At £89.99 they are a bit steep for a pair of shoes, but in the grand scheme of wedding expense, they're not so bad. They'd be suitable for you as the bride (obviously depending on the style of your dress) or for your bridesmaids. They also come in pink and black, although that's not a very weddingy colour.
