Monsoon 'Tallulah' black peep toe shoes

These 'Tallulah' shoes from Monsoon (£75) could have been the best court shoes I've seen in recent weeks, but then they went and ruined then by adding an ankle strap. As we all know, all but the skinniest legs are made trunk-like with ankle straps! It's such a shame too - these really are lovely, from the peep-toe to the diamante bow. However, I have a cunning plan - that ankle strap doesn't look too secure, so a few seconds with a pair of scissors and a classic, beautiful court shoe appears.

  • Ankle straps do wonders for my legs, but I'm pretty much a stick...also, they look quite wintery...They'd be sitting in my closet for months!

Oh please don't ban ankle straps, THE solution for slim ankles in need of definition! You just need to be careful with heel shape : low straight heels are a no-no, but ankle straps work great with curvy or cone heels to define the ankle and elongate the leg.

Sorry, Antonia, but by the looks of the ankle strap, it wouldn't work as a normal pump. They have lowered the sides, so the only thing that would hold the shoe to your feet is the strap. But I agree with you, and I would have tried to do the same thing if I had come upon such lovely shoes!
