'Fancy' errr... things from Shellys
These 'Fancy' sandals from Shellys are described as "ladies retro style sandal". Hmmm, not quite sure I agree. Yes they are for ladies, but retro? They are a bit too clunky and orthopaedic looking for my liking. The cute cherry print however is a redeeming feature, and so is the £30 asking price, if you like them.

They are retro - I remember having an identical pair in the early 80s (although they were plain, not printed). They felt pretty retro then!

These are absolutely retro -- not that you have to like them. These are fashioned after some very popular Woolworth and Keds styles from era gone by.

Agree with Jennifer May - extremely retro. I had a pair in the mid 70's. They were available in a floral pattern then as well.

I worked in the Woolworth's (now extinct, like so many other New Orleans landmarks) at the corner of Canal and Bourbon in 1971 where these 1940s-era shoes were sold. They flew off the shelves. All the teenagers wore them then because, at $3.99, it didn't matter that they were made of cardboard and barely took you through the end of the summer. Worn with handmade tie-back halter tops and butt cheek-baring Lee jeans cutoffs, they were the darlings of second generation Yats.
