Today marks fifty years since Coco Chanel created the first Chanel shoes! Just two years after launching her quilted handbag, Chanel broke tradition with the two-tone shoe. Legend has it that the style occured so that she could gallivant around without visibly dirtying her shoes. She declared, "A woman with good shoes is never ugly."
