Sockettes by Tabio

sock.jpgI do (as you regulars out there will know) love my flats, but even though they can be gorgeously comfortable, half the time I seem to get more blisters with them than impossibly high heels - especially on my little toes and behind the heel. Tabio sockettes are meant to solve this exact problem. Rather excitingly, they come in all sorts of lace styles, as well as the more classic plain colours. Having never tried them, I'm not sure how well they work in practice - evidently I prefer bandaging my feet for days on end afterwards and having to wear Uggs in July because everything else rubs my battered blistered toes! The price ranges from £5.50 upwards and if you're an experienced Tabio sockette wearer and you love or hate them, let me know.

I haven't tried these ones, but I've been wearing Marks and Spencers version for about a year now. They do the job, but the only problem is they don't always seem to line up with the shoe, so you have a rather attractive line around the edge of your shoe!

The real problem, seriously, is that summer shoes are so cheaply made--even the expensive ones. I've got one old suede-lined pair from Camper that's really soft and one elk pair from Trippen, but even buying fancy expensive ones doesn't always solve the problem. I would, actually, spend a lot of money for a well-made summer flat that was soft, had some arch support and was also cute.

there is never a reason to wear uggs. ever.

When I was in Hong Kong two years ago, all the women were wearing these. But they wore them in colors to contrast their shoes and the sockettes were supposed to be seen.

I get mine at Target, and they really do work. They stop your feet from sweating in cheap flats, also, so poor gals like me can buy more pairs :)

Wow! Cute, but will they last? My shoe-dar says NO...Also, what they can be used for is questionable. Nonetheless it's a fun idea, kind of reminds me of shoes to go with bedroom attire.

these kinds of socks have been around in japan for as long as i can remember (but im only 14) and I have a bunch of pairs--- the lace ones are cute to wear under sinple flats and they peek out (AND make your feet look narrower! seriously!) but they rip very, very easily and your toe will probably pop out during the 1st use... don't buy the cotton type, because they will slide off the back of your heel, which is extremely obnoxious.

Primark used to sell these, probably still do (but just in a nude colour, no fancy lace). £1 for 2 pairs I think. My problem with them is that they're only one size 4-7 so fall off my heels. They protect my toes from blisters though.

These were really popular in Tokyo last year. You can still see many young girls wearing them with flats. Usually, they wear bold colors with subtle shoes. I think they're cute but they didn't help prevent blisters...

If you try wearing these in Italy, you'll be seen as a completely out-of-fashion and cheap person. They call them fantasmini, that would be something like "ghosties" in English... are considered as something embarrassing.

I've never even heard of these, but I too am a flat shoe lover. I'd be willing to try them out... if I can find them around here...

i'm on my year abroad in japan at the moment and they're everywhere around here. i find most of them uncomfortable to wear with shoes though so i tend to just buy the cute ones with bows and stuff to wear around the house.

they're so much cheaper here though, you can get 3 pairs for like £4.
