Yay or Nay Wednesday

yaynay81.jpgTwo weeks gone and our last Yay or Nay offering is none the prettier! While some of you thought they were cool in an ironic kind of way (Great Scott!), most of you agreed that they were back-to-the-future beastly. If you fancy a trip back in time, they're $78.95 from Zappos.

This week's offering is part high fashion, part school shoe; but are they bang-up beautiful or patent painful? Yay or Nay and why?

Oh dear - I don't seem to be liking many of these offerings recently!! What on earth could you wear with these to make them look cool? Straight from the teacher's shop (the shop that only teachers seem to know about that sells hideously frumpy items). Nay for the heel, patent, colour and shape. A depressing grey winter day of a shoe.

I'd have loved these when I was at school! Can't think what I'd wear them with now though so nay from me on practicality but there is a small part of me going yay!

Nay. I'm not a big fan of those Victorian looking lace-up shoes anyway, but with the addition of 3 different colours of patent...Ugh. No, I really don't like these!

Yay! I love the subtle colors and the low top makes them look more stylish than other versions. Plus, they're shiny!

They look like a school shoe. but gone wrong. or something henry the eigth would wear. nay nay nay.

the colours together and the patent are actually quite nice but the shape and the lace is alllllll wrong

Nay. The heel shape is a turn off. Okay. The whole shoe is a turn off. I just don't like the librarian style. Makes me think of Dana Carvey's Church Lady from the 80s.

There's nothing that I like about these shoes...nothing. So I'm going with a huge Nay!

NAAAY!! Hate the heel and the nose of the shoe. HORRIBLE. Not to mention the clash of icky colors

Let me say this:

If I saw these for the right price--say, 70% off at DSW, I would snap them up in a second! I would plan all sorts of fun and ironic outfits to wear them with, and I'd store them in their box, taking them out to look at once in a while.

Then I'd wear them to class one day, and would spend the whole time staring at my feet while spacing out. At the end of class I'd trade 'em out for the flip-flops I always keep in my bag, and carry them for the 7-block walk home. When I got home I'd lump them unceremoniously on the floor, thinking about my wasted money but not yet resigned to abandoning them. They'd lay in the floor making me feel a twinge of guilt every time I walked by, until the next time I vacuumed. Then I'd shove them to the back of my closet and eventually donate them to Goodwill.

In other words, Nay. I don't have the money to throw away on wear-once shoes.

Nay, though I really wanted to like them because I generally do like this style. The toe just looks too long and that particular style of heel has never appealed to me. The two together makes the shoe seem overly long and goodness knows my feet are big enough without the shoes making them look bigger.

A tentative Yay, as I like this shoe in theory but something about it just isn't perfect (maybe the toe?).
