Jour & Nuit's new luxurious interchangeable shoe as worn by Beyonce Knowles

The Jour & Nuit interchangeable shoe, brainchild of designer Hillary Chan Latos, is a pretty nifty idea. Word has it that she came up with the concept after becoming sick of trying to travel with numerous pairs of high heels for all her trips, and she’s certainly no stranger to fashion after spending four years as the accessories editor for Soma magazine. The Jour & Nuit shoes (French for ‘day and night’) have been spotted on a few celebrities recently, including of course Beyonce in her very own 5 inch platform pair at the Sony/BMG Grammy Awards 2007. Carry on to take a proper look at them and to find out what's so clever about the idea!

After debuting this spring, the range features a variety of styles ranging from flat sandals to kitten, stiletto and platform heels. Each shoe has interchangeable and removable straps that can be transferred to any sole, and when you buy a pair, you will also receive two sets of straps, with additional ones available.
The collection is handcrafted in Italy and uses many, many luxurious materials such as alligator and silk duchess satin, and they come adorned with pearls and Swarovski crystals - as you would expect from a pair of shoes Ms Knowles has been spotted in! The concept behind the shoes is the white gold, durable strap clasp which was designed by an aerospace engineering company – who says fashion and science don’t mix?!
Jour & Nuit's interchangeable shoes such as the ones above don't come cheap, with prices generally between US $300 - US $1000 - seriously pricey but I suppose you are literally getting a number of shoes in one!? If you e-mail the company with your location, they will send you information of your local stockists.
So what do you think of the concept? Ingenious new idea or passing fad?!
