Top Five: yellow shoes!
Surely the best way to embrace the summer (yes, that's right - two days without rain for me means the summer has returned in full force) is to develop a host of summery coloured wardrobe attire. Can you see where I'm going with this?! Yes, that's right - because I think yellow is one of the least wearable colours out there, particularly in shoe form, it is my colour of choice today! As you can see, Paris Hilton is certainly a fan of the idea - although whether that's a pro or a con is somewhat debatable!
Nina Ricci's sunflower yellow satin strappy sandals reduced from US$295.95 to US$267
The first pair of yellow shoes I'm showing you definitely make a statement. These Nina Ricci sunflower yellow satin strappy sandals - which sound more like a lesson in sibilance than a description - are way way way too over the top for my tastes, but if you like all the focus to be on your shoes (literally, nobody will even be able to see your ouftit next to these), perhaps you're more keen than me.
Sergio Rossi jewelled flat slingbacks, £320.00 These are perhaps my favourite pair of yellow designer flats doing the rounds at the moment. Feminine, bright and not at all garish (ahem, Nina Ricci, take note), I love everything about them but the price, although I do think you pay for quality with shoes.
Marc by Marc Jacobs patent stiletto heeled court, £194
This Marc by Marc Jacobs heeled court at Matches Fashion is for those neon lovers out there. Personally I'm not so keen, but if you're a fan but aren't sure about the rest of an outfit to go with them, Sarah Jessica Parker has given it a go.
Yellow suede court shoe, £55 by Principles
I'm also a bit of a fan of these yellow courts. I like the deeper shade of yellow with a hint of mustard, and I'm a fan of the almond peep-toe shape. I was slightly surprised to see these shoes classed as 'wedding shoes' on the Debenhams website, but presumerably it's being suggested that they'd work as a part of a guest's outfit, rather than that they'd be a great look on the bride, along with with white flowing dress and clashing flowers!
Yellow Seychelles D'Orsay heeled pumps at Urban Outfitters US, $80
These patent heels have contrast lining (in the yellow and white versions, it's black and in the black version it's white) with a thick 2.75 inch heel. The jury is out on these for me, what do you think of them?
PS - I know that I'm only meant to feature five pairs of shoes, but if all of these are just too over the top for you, take a look at these £39.00 yellow peep-toe heels at Freemans. Far more subtle, I love them and think they're the perfect way to add that first splash of yellow to your wardrobe.
