What do you think of these open toe stockings at Marks and Spencer - do they do the job?
Ladies, I feel it is now time to tell you about my addiction to tights. All winter I was practically surgically attached to them, wearing them constantly either with shorts or skirts. If I can get away with it, i.e. am not wearing open-toe shoes or flip flop style sandals, and nobody is likely to be examining my legs too closely, I also sometimes wear them in the summer months. This is partly to look like I actually have a bit of a tan, and partly because I have a bit of an obsession that they make my legs look much slimmer - although sadly I fear I am in denial about this...
Marks and Spencer are now selling these open-toe tights for £4.00 in natural tan or nude, which would seem to solve the main problem of wearing tights with popular summer shoe styles. Sadly, when I experimented the look on myself I resembled a snake shedding its skin - an unpleasant image and a particularly dodgy look! However, if you're more concerned about keeping cool in the hot weather they are better for that purpose - crafted from a revolutionary Japanese yarn, the design releases a cooling sensation to your legs as you wear them. Have you tried them, and what do you think?

What the hell??!!! Why would you wear such things? Maybe under pants where no one could see them. I try to avoid pantihose at all cost, no matter what time of year it is.

I'm with Olivia. I won't say it's a bad idea (though I probably should), but it's definitely useless. (If you're worried about chaffing in the summer months, just put some talc on your thighs.)

Ladies, I wholeheartedly agree - and in the picture don't they just look horrid?!

I tried them a few years ago, they're ok but I just felt like my legs looked a totally different colour to my toes.

I, too, tried them a few years ago. The end of the stocking never coincides with the shape of your shoe, so you end up looking even dorkier than before.
Because I'm orthopaedically challenged I almost always have to wear something between shoe and foot, or I get blood blisters. I find that nude-coloured fishnets do the job.

Many a time I have wished for something like this - as my legs never see the light of day (they're almost blue), I tend to avoid wearing skirts. With the platform wedge sandals I wear, I think these would work - though not on a particularly skimpy shoe. You just can't wear full tights with open-toed shoes! These for me would be a good alternative to fake tanning or leg make-up.

While I've never tried these myself, my mother swears by them for weddings and stuff where she considers it "improper" to go without stockings, but likes open toed shoes. I do think in the US they're available in a wider range of colors, because she matches her skin tone pretty well, and I think if you're going to try this that's key.
Personally, I stay away from stockings whenever possible to avoid muffin top.
I don't know if this is a yay or nay. :)

Lol, the dreaded tights and muffin top.... Andrea... to try and rid of the muffin top and tights... when you put them on and pull them up... depending on what you are wearing, as this usually can work for trousers, and higher waisted skirts...make sure you have an excess at the top so basically the tights come up to like your belly button, then fold them over..ish, so they go back down past your waist kinda just past the top of your bottom-where it begins (although this can be annoying).... this sometimes can help with the muffin top annoyance.

I've worn these for work before. Anyway, they are extremely uncomfortable. My big toe felt like it was being strangled, and the pressure inbetween my toes was unbearable. I remember running to the bathroom, ripping them off, and hoping no one would look at my feet.
