After Cameron Diaz and Victoria Beckham both showed up at the same event wearing super shiny silver shoes, we knew it wouldn't be long before the high street bought us an affordable option. We've mentioned some copycat styles before, but these ones from Topshop are definitely the closest to Posh's mirror shine stilettos. Yours for £50, they're also available in a myriad of other shades. I'm loving the 80s electric blue. Pure tack!

I never know whether to give a pair of shoes like this a try – the bright blue really shouldn’t go with the snakeskin, but it does, and I bet they look fabulous peeping out from under a pair of trousers or jeans. This is a one off pair from Adele Clarke that have been worn to photo shoots so have slight scuffing to the soles. If that doesn’t bother you, and you’re a size four, you can get this pair for the bargain price of £80, down from £395!

Lulu Guinness always manages to put a quirky twist on a classic style, and this 'Vera' shoe is no exception. Available in metallic midnight blue or silver, the timeless court shoe / pump shape is topped with a silver lips charm, which will no doubt spawn many a 'kiss my feet' joke. If you like the idea of that, they're £215 at Viva La Diva, and are, amazingly, also available in half sizes.
The strappy lattice pattern is becoming quite popular, and here is Boutique 58's version, called the Jackelyn pump, as a sling-back peep-toe in black patent. Previously US$114.95, this pair is now down to a mere US$33.90 (70% off) from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale - what a great deal! I would have liked this shoe in the interesting 'beige' color, but that version has sold out since the start of the sale. Only the black is now available.

I first became aware of the danger by reading Manolo's Shoe Blog, but the Washington Post's new article has reiterated the danger - Crocs and other soft-soled shoes can get stuck in the teeth of escalators and cause minor to severe injuries. Sandals, tennis shoes, flip flops and other "shoe entrapments" have been yanked the bowels of those moving stairs. A few horrifying accounts describe Crocs and immitation Crocs on the feet of children becoming stuck as the escalator stairs converge and causing toes to be ripped off or mutilated to the point of needing amputation...

It's rare that a pair of flats have the ability to be casual as well as smart, but these ballerina flats by Maloles could be just that. Admittedly they'd have to be something special to be priced at US$273 (sale price US$191.10) but they are very pretty. Made from leather they have bow detail and contrast trim throughout as well sa a leather sole. You could easily pair them with skinny jeans, go casual with a skirt or dress (Mischa-Barton-for-Keds style), or paired with wide legged trousers, they're definitely versatile.

Oh Kate. Why must you make shoes I can't afford and then force me to fall in love with them? I adore these 'Emmy' Kate Spade peep-toes. Available in plain black or white, or in an adorable beige polka dot design with red patent leather trim, they also feature a sweet not-to-high-heel and a slingback. They are at least reduced from US$250 to US$162.50 at Jildor Shoes but sadly that's still out of the question for me. What do you think?
