Pedro Garcia heels on sale at Kate Boutique

pedro.JPG Here at Shoewawa, we're all massive Pedro Garcia fans. Lucky for us then, that lots of the Pedro Garcia stock at Kate Boutique is reduced in the summer sale! These 'Miriam' altea black heels consist of black leather straps covered in onyx crystals, complete with cushioned shoe bed and platform. The heel itself is actually 3.5 inches tall, but with the platform you're boosted up to 4.25 inches on them. The best bit? They're down from US$302 to US$268 which doesn't sound nearly so bad! Are you a fan of jewel encrusted heels or are they a bit too Jordan and Peter for you?

Separated at birth: Christian Louboutin's Emily shoe boots and Brian the dog

louboutin 0000034672_20061021010511.jpg
I kind of get a kick out of thinking that Christian Louboutin was inspired to design the controversial 'Emily' shoe boots (first mentioned here a while back) after watching an episode of Family Guy. However, even if they were designed with far less animated thoughts on the mind, the heels that were the shoe of choice for Roland Mouret's debut RM show have almost the same level of sophistication as a jazz loving, Martini swilling talking dog, though I'd love to know how many Martinis anyone could handle walking in those platformed skyscrapers. To get teetering in your own pair head on over to Net-A-Porter where they're available to pre-order for £520.

Shoe ads to give you the heebie jeebies

Gabor1.jpg gaborshoe.preview.jpg

Yikes, is anyone as creeped out by these adverts as I am? Over at Ads of the World this advertising campaign for Gabor shoes (kind of like the German equivalent of Clarks) has the tag line 'Fits perfectly', and whilst I'll go as far as to say that the adverts are highly creative, they also look like a freak welding accident took place between shoe and foot rather than comfy pairs of shoes I'd want to buy...

Sprinters in St. Petersburg show exactly what women will do in the name of fashion

sprint2.jpg Sprint.jpg
Aaah St. Petersburg, famous for its rich theatrical life, the Hermitage, fountains...oh, and the near crippling experience of high heeled sprinting! In an event sponsored by Glamour magazine, over 100 women raced through the streets of Russia last weekend in their favourite heels, all of which had a required minimum height of 3.5 inches. What on earth possessed them, I hear you ask? How about winning 50,000 roubles worth of shopping vouchers which, averaging out to around £960, may not get you a shopping spree of A-List proportions but could certainly help you afford you those Louboutins you've had your eye on. Something tells me the lady in the first picture took the prize and the woman taking a tumble in the second pic is sticking to trainers from now on.

Topshop's mid height peep toe wedge is pretty and practical

mid%20height%20wedge2.bmp Topshop seems to be doing pretty well in the shoe department at the moment, providing pretty footwear for almost every occasion. These mid height peep toe heels are a slightly subdued purple colour that would be perfect for the late heat-wave (or at least the odd burst of sunshine) forecasters would have us believe will actually occur>. They admittedly aren't the most ground breakingly unusual pair in the world but if you're after some practical but pretty wedges, you won't find many that are much better. At £50, they won't break the bank, either!

Refresh the party shoe section of your wardrobe with L.K Bennett's 'Fresco' heels

fresco.bmp If you're a heel fan but don't want to have to spend a fortnight learning how to walk in the pair you buy, only to wear them for just twenty minutes or so before they start to cause you severe pain, then LK Bennett may the shop to head to. These bronze(?) 'Fresco' heels have lattice detail and appear to be the disco ball for the foot. They're pretty pricey at £145 but the heel is reasonable and the strap detailing is very attractive. They'd be great for smarter evening events, date-wear with jeans or trousers, or even just for a fun night out look with black opaque tights. What do you think?

Terra Plana launches Sole of Africa range

terra%20plana%20doll.jpgTerra Plana has got to be my favourite footwear brand of all time, with its gorgeously bendy, totally chic and wonderfully wearable sustainable shoes that just keep getting better.

So I was delighted to get a sneak peek of some of the new Terra Plana styles for Autumn/Winter 07 last week, along side a charming new range called 'Sole of Africa', which the company's founders have launched as a side project called Soul of Africa, to help support AIDS orphans in South Africa. Unemployed local women are taught to hand-paint the shoes, so each pair is a unique edition, and £3 of every pair will be donated to charity. The range will be available in time for Christmas. Keep an eye on Hippyshopper for eco shoe heaven.
