Sprinters in St. Petersburg show exactly what women will do in the name of fashion

Aaah St. Petersburg, famous for its rich theatrical life, the Hermitage, fountains...oh, and the near crippling experience of high heeled sprinting! In an event sponsored by Glamour magazine, over 100 women raced through the streets of Russia last weekend in their favourite heels, all of which had a required minimum height of 3.5 inches. What on earth possessed them, I hear you ask? How about winning 50,000 roubles worth of shopping vouchers which, averaging out to around £960, may not get you a shopping spree of A-List proportions but could certainly help you afford you those Louboutins you've had your eye on. Something tells me the lady in the first picture took the prize and the woman taking a tumble in the second pic is sticking to trainers from now on.
