Nothing funny about Emmy Best Comedy Nominees footwear

What is up with the women on some of the most dynamic, out-there shows on U.S. television wearing such boring shoes on the red carpet? Our favorite funny women and Emmy nominees for best actress in a comedy need to step it up, literally. America Ferrara, where is your Ugly Betty sass and style? Okay, maybe we wouldn't want you to wear one of your outrageous costumes at the ABC up fronts, where you were photographed above, but would a red shoe kill you?
Mary Louise Parker plays a Mom who sells pot on the hysterical and poignant dramedy Weeds. While we appreciate she was not high when she made her shoe choice for the Golden Globes, above, like she apparently was when she chose those white monstrosities for the Screen Actor's Guild Awards, we hope sitting front row at the likes of Chaiken and J Mendel for the fall shows will influence a more stylish choice for the Emmys.
Which brings us to the funniest woman in America, possibly the world: Tina Fey. She went from a headlining spot on Saturday Night Live to a starring role in a behind-the-scenes spoof of network television in 30 Rock. And she must have 30 pairs of plain black pointy toe pumps, and 30 pairs of plain black peep toe pumps for when she wants to mix it up, because it seems that that is literally all she wears; witness her ensemble for the Golden Globes, above. We love you Tina, and we get that you're smart, funny, and a successful business woman, and you don't need fashion to define yourself or your status in Hollywood. I mean, you get interviewed by Howard Stern and aren't asked to take your top off. We know you're serious. But does your footwear have to be so dour?
