Diesel's patent leather ankle boots - cute but casual

diesel-ankle-boots.jpgBetter get used to seeing lots and lots of ankle boots around this winter, folks - I don't think this trend is going anywhere fast. Neither might you be, come to think of it, if you buy these ankle boots by Diesel. That heel may not look too high, but it's actually 4.25 inches, which is a little higher than many of the winter boots we've been seeing - luckily it's balanced out by the thick sole, which will help give you some traction. I love the curvy sides of these, but I'm not quite convinced by the metal logo on the side: if you are, you'll find these at Oli, where they're £135.

Ugh. I am so sick of the bootie trend already. It's not so bad when the front comes up just as high as the back, such as the Louboutins here: http://www.shoewawa.com/2007/07/offices_pole_da.html#comments But I am frankly finding all the slash fronts and peter pan styles just repulsive.

In my case looooove the booties!!!! (i think i said this a bit too many times xD).
Also agree on the logo thing. Heavy branded stuff, no likey for me...

Ankle boots are tough to stomach because many designers haven't popularized the best ways to wear them - they usually look good with dark colored leggings, tappered trousers of varying above ankle lengths, and skinny jeans. I quite like this boot. From a design perspective it is quite a stylistic enigma. The boot walks a fine line between the classicism inspired by the mid-twentieth century, while looking ultramodern. I can ignore the obnoxious logo. The branding folks probably suggested the metal logo on the side. The patent leather toe and heel are also nice touches that add dimension and personality. The heel is high, but makes the shoe look sleeker and more refined. If the heel was shorter, the shoe would appear stocky and unproportioned. Who knows if it will be a sustainable market success, but it is a nice boot that is reasonably priced, so Why not?

wow Gerald, you're such a shoe expert!
about the logo, it could have been such a perfect bootie in my eyes without the logo there; it also looks out of place, in my opinion. i see no reason or embellishment in a big silver stamp in there.
other than that, in my books they could have been "Booties of the Year" ;)
