Elastic topped boots - more Why than Wow factor
Can anyone out there explain this trend to me? It's cropping up everywhere I look - boots with gathered elasticated tops - and I just don't get it. I may be causing some controversy, but I just can't help feeling this is one of those Emperor's New Clothes moments in shoe design. As quick to arrive in shops as thrown on the "so five minutes ago" pile, I just can't bring myself to buy in.
While I am a huge advocate of individual tastes, this is one I won't help but turn my nose up at every time I see a pair. This pair by Firetrap are a perfect example of what could have been a perfectly wearable boot, now ruined by one run-in seam of elastic gone awry. Am I overreacting? Is this a trend you're loving, or, like me, is it more fishing waders than fashion fabulous to you? If you simply must have this pair you can get 'em from Schuh for £199.99. But if they aren't in vogue next week don't say I didn't warn you.

Hmm... I tend to agree. Nice things going on with the sole design, but the upper is a bit refuse sack. At least they're not crocks though eh..
