'Mammoth" Fur-lined Crocs: the bastard spawn sired by the Ugg

crocs_mammoth1.jpg

Egads! I saw these frightening Crocs on Manolo's shoe blog this week, and I laughed, and laughed and laughed. No one in their right mind would wear these, I thought - it's the end of Crocs! Boy, was I wrong. As I traipsed the mall today, I saw a mum and her kids all sporting these to survive the frigidly air-conditioned climate of Sharper Image. I refrained from Croc-bashing after I saw about a trillion pairs during a vacation to Florida (I can see some function there - Crocs while boating seemed convenient and slip-free.) But this monstrosity... something must be done about this terrifying bastard spawn of Crocs and another nemesis, the undying Ugg. The 'Mammoth's cost US$39.99 a pair. You don't even want to know what other colors these come in...(like "Army/Oatmeal.")

Crocs are made of a water proof material because their original intent was things like boating and gardening. How is that feature aided at all buy attaching wool? All I can think of is how much I hate wearing wet socks.

Has anyone tried on a pair of these? "Don't knock them until you try them." I thought the original "crocs" were ugly for several years until I put on a pair - Now I have them in all shapes and colors!!!

These are an embarrassment. You get designers like Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo etc etc, and also less famous designers, but these hideous things take the limelight away from the people who deserve it?! Puke-tastic!

There was an article in the UK press here last week that CROCS have been BANNED from Operating Theatres in UK hospitals as some kind of life support machine cut out due to static electricty charge carried by the Crocs one of the theatre assistants was wearing. They really are bad for your health!
